You have several options. 1. Create a graphic using the draw tools to match the legend symbol. 2. Add your layer to an extra data frame that doesn't appear on your layout and adjust the symbol for that to look like what you want in the legend. 3. Go to the legend properties layout tab and increase your patch size and various gaps until you get what you want.

Just an FYI that it doesn't appear that this bug was fixed in 10.6.1. I installed 10.6.1 on my main work and old work computers. I was able to test the buffer wizard on the old work computer and it froze/crashed ArcMap. I didn't test it on the main work computer because 10.6.1 kept crashing on other stuff so I got rid of it and went back to 10.6 there. My guess is they will never fix this bug. It's ArcMap and they aren't going to do anything with it that isn't absolutely necessary. They probably think of it as a plus, being one more reason to use Pro. More importantly for the users, there is the regular buffer tool which is what they would recommend although it isn't a perfect replacement. For those who only want graphics buffers there is no option. For those who want temporary buffers, you supposedly can have your geoprocessing results be temporary by default, and when you close ArcMap they supposedly are removed from your disk. (See Geoprocessing Options - Results management.) I use "supposedly" because it doesn't remove mine. If you want buffers without perfect curves I think you will have to save to a shapefile first and then if needed convert to a gdb feature class.

Lindsey, you should be able to select a feature or features in ArcMap and have the buffer tool only work on them. I don't think the tool help indicates this and there is no option to use selected features or not, but that is my experience with the tool specifically and most tools generally. I finally had to remove the buffer wizard button from my ArcMap projects since I would forget that it doesn't work, and then find it crashes the project and I lose all the work I've done since the last save. I thought I recalled somebody mentioning it would be fixed in 10.6.1 but I couldn't find that just now, nor any specific bug.

Perhaps Kory might suggest there could be problems, but renaming the indexing file in the bin folder worked for me. You lose indexing of course, but I always considered it a resource hog of little use. I've had no issues since doing this with 2.1 or 2.1.1 although I will note I primarily use ArcMap instead of Pro.

I ended up using the Buffer Analysis tool. I use the buffer wizard mostly because I've been using it for years, it is simple and convenient, I sometimes only need a graphic and it never produces true curves even if the output is a feature class. (I hate true curves.) But this is not a major issue problem for me now that I know it is a bug.

In case this is useful, I'll note I had the crash, and just repeated the crash, using the plain old garden variety UTM Nad83 Z19 coordinate system (26919), both for the data frame and the source data. I also tested the Editor buffer tool and it does work.

I installed 10.6 yesterday late and noticed today that the buffer wizard crashes ArcMap every time I try to use it. I used the buffer tool instead but figured I would make a note of this indirectly for tech support. I just noticed hundreds of these files being generated after installing 2.1. They weren't there with 2.0.1. They keep coming even though I have turned off indexing for Pro. If I end the ArcGIS Indexing server task they stop but if I start Pro and then close it, even without doing anything the task will start up again. I renamed the indexing exe file in the bin folder and that finally seems to have stopped it for good. It does seem to involve Excel files.

This from ESRI: Note:
ArcMap is programmed to check the validity of all folder connections in the paths in the specific connection. For example, if the desired data is six folders down in the network directory structure, the Add Data dialog box verifies the validity of all six folders before getting down to the directory containing the data the user wants to add to the map. It is why I limit my folder connections to only the folders or network drive used every day. But I can't fathom why this should prevent Pro from connecting to mapped network drives. ArcMap and ArcCatalog do it. It is also a relatively easy workaround to add a network drive to Pro once known, and I seem to recall ESRI people telling everyone how to do it when Pro first came out. All the user has to do is type or paste in the server name shown in Windows Explorer (at least in my case it is in parentheses prior to the mapped drive letter but it is also discoverable by finding the server name via Windows Explorer's Network list) in the address window of the add connections dialog. It is an unnecessary workaround for a clumsy design decision, however, which makes me wonder why it persists.

You might create a viewer window and then use that to shift from point to point. It's not as simple as hitting a key but better than zooming in and out. You could convert your vertices to points, edit the points (which would allow you to open the table and move to points through it) and then convert them back to lines but that seems like a lot of work too. You couldn't automate a lot of this with the Snap tool?

Did you apply a stretch to it in the Layer Properties - Symbology tab? You might try the Percent Clip, ESRI or Min-Max. You might also use the Hillshade tool on it to see if you can generate a meaningful Hillshade, although that too might benefit from a stretch.
