Hi Everyone, I am aiming to consume a Public Building Plot areas Map service through ArcMap and generate/export the plots centroids to a feature class to another location. Is there any geoprocessing tool/service able to perform this on a Map service? Ref. There is this python script that calculates the centroids of polygon feature classes but only locally : Calculate centroids (http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//00170000004m000000) Please Help !

Dear, I am trying to access the following feature service URL: http://[IPAddress:Port]/arcgis/rest/services/[MyMapService]/FeatureServer that has been basically published(.MXD) from an Enterprise Geodatabase(containing versioned datasets) as a map service enabling by that the feature access capability. My question is as follows: I am interested in consuming this feature service by Operations Dashboards within an Operation View and I wanted to make sure that the future updates on the different feature classes composing my geodatabase will be reflected on my operation view? If the changes are getting reflected in the view on the Operations Dashboards for ArcGIS Desktop. Are they also reflected on ArcGIS Online organization account? Our main goal is to have an updated data dynamically. Tech. Specs: - ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 (SP1) - ArcGIS Online Organization account. - ArcGIS Server 10.1. - Operations Dashboards for ArcGIS 10.1

Are both machines on the same network? Well, both machines are not on the same network. The Network is an Enterprise network and as I am a novice in the iOS world, I found difficulties configuring a new network (the one common with GIS Production Server). Could you please share any documentation on how to configure a new network on the MAC? Thank you again! -- Reda

Hi everyone, I am new to iOS and I am facing an issue with my published service. I cannot access a map service(published in server - separate machine) from my internet browser in the Mac. I m getting the following error: Safari can't open the page "URL" because the server where this page is located isn't responding. When I am accessing from a Windows based machine, it is responding successfully! Am I missing something related to the ports? Whatever is the solution, please kindly share the procedures details. Technical Specs: - Server machine running. - Connected to my ArcGIS Server(publisher) - Map service URL: 10.10.1.176:6080/arcgis/rest/services/Myservice/MapServer Running. - MacBook Pro - OSX Version 10.9.1 - Safari v 7.0.1 Please help and Thanks ! -- Reda

Hi everyone ! I have 2 questions about Database versioning: 1. Is it normal where you drag and drop a feature class/dataset, it gets assigned as a dbo.DEFAULT version even if the user connected is not supposed to access it ? What I am missing here through my versions creation is maybe how to assign a version exclusively to a user? please advice! (Ref. users not dbo.png) 2. (Related to 1) Is it normal that the same connected user(who is not the Database Administrator(dbo)) as simple user has the right to switch between versions ?What if the dbo doesn't want him to do it? What is the procedure? (Ref. switchversions.png) and even after switching to the version assigned to the user, he could switch to dbo.DEFAULT which is a I think a task that should be exclusive to the database administrator only... Please kindly advice ! Important Notes/Technical Spec.: - ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 SP1/SDE. - Users/permissions configured/managed from MS SQL Server 2008 R2 and not from ArcGIS Desktop. - Versions created successfully. - All users versions have been created as Protected versions.

Hi everyone, I was wondering what would be the scenario if a Geodatabase Database Administrator wants to delete a feature class(From a versioned dataset), in order to import a newly created feature class referring to the same data content, to that dataset ? Tech. References: ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 - Advanced. MS SQL Server 2008 R2 DB - SDE. Please help ! Thank you.

If Not, is there any other interface(Customizable or not) which could make the data edition procedures more interactive at an Enterprise level? Thank you in advance ! Ref. MS SQL Server 2008 R2. Hi everyone, Could someone provides me with the best practices (Procedures/Standards) to update an existing Data Model using Visio, at an Enterprise Level, acknowledging the fact that a database has already been implemented previously from the oldest model. Is there any possibility to upgrade the old geodatabase consequently after updating the data model ? The updation itself is mainly about adding new fields and domains. Please help. Thank you in advance !

Hi everyone, I had an SQL Server 2008 R2 Database that have been created using the "Create Enterprise Geodatabase" processing tool. After that, I exported all my feature classes from my File geodatabase to the SDE Feature classes which succeeded. Now, I am trying to update my data especially the polygon feature classes : 1. Within an editing session, I am deleting all the features/records from a feature class. 2. When I am going with the Object Loader solution "Load Objects" I do receive messages saying that one of the geometries will not be imported to the feature, which is very annoying... Now, I just figured out that it is impossible to apply check/repair geometry within SDE feature classes. Please help on what to do in this case? N.B: - Non versioned database. - I also tried simple loader, feature class to feature class(which is not allowing rewriting on the existing feature class), Append(which is importing the record but not the geometry...) Thank you!

Hi everyone, It is about the database versioning. I have a SDE geodatabase under MS SQL Server 2008 R2 that I need to manage the edits of my different users. I have been looking on the internet for an esri tutorial document regarding the Database Versioning, but I couldn't find anything related to it. Could you please share any detailed documentation at this purpose (10.1 ArcGIS version appreciated) How to, as a database administrator, create versions of the database and manage user versions in detail (with the detailed steps)? P.S: I already attended an esri training seminar about the subject for 10.0 (Ref. http://training.esri.com/gateway/index.cfm?fa=catalog.webCourseDetail&courseID=2163) Please help ! Thank you in advance

ArcSDE permissions aren't that granular, and database extensions that permit row/column level security are not supported by Esri (if you can make it work, congrats, but Tech Support can't help you if it doesn't work). You'd need to pay careful attention to the extra tables created by ArcSDE for versioning, archiving, etc, since you couldn't use ArcGIS to grant the permissions. Adding relationship classes, domains, etc into the equation increases the level of difficulty by an order of magnitude. I certainly wouldn't want to attempt this, and I've been working with ArcSDE since version 1.3 and SQL-Server since 6.0. Using multiple tables and views to join them is a less fearsome approach, but it's unlikely you'll find someone to donate days/weeks of time to give you detailed instructions on how to proceed. The best you can hope for is someone having published a paper on how they did something similar, then using that as a roadmap. - V If it is not supported by Esri, what then would be the usual procedure(steps) to follow to get this done? I mean to forbid the access for an SQL Server 2008 R2 Database user, to an attribute field table, which could contain sensitive information? Thank you.
