I figured out this issue using FME. I deleted my existing AGOL hosted table and service definition layers/items. Then I reran my FME script/model and gave the FME writer a new name for the output table (one that didn't exist in AGOL, nor did I pick one of the existing tables in AGOL, which I had done before). It ran perfectly! FME created a new hosted table AND a file geodatabaes in AGOL; both with the same name. It appears that the file geodatabase is the key to getting this update working, at least with FME (I didn't have a file geodatabase before). This probably holds true even if you are trying to do this kind of an update using python but I haven't tried that.

Hi, I have a hosted table in ArcGIS Online (AGOL) that contains police arrest log data from the last 7 days. This hosted table was published to AGOL from an Enterprise Geodatabase table on my local network using ArcGIS Pro. What I need to do is overwrite this table every night so that the last seven days of arrest logs are showing. I only need to update the table, there is spatial data involved. Also, I need this hosted table to be able to be downloaded because it will be shared with the public on our City's ArcGIS Hub Open Data site. If overwriting it won't work, I was thinking of trying to delete it on AGOL and then republishing each night. I need this to be automated process using a python script or maybe using Safe Software FME (which my City has a license of). I have tried publishing this table, with an empty feature class, to our ArcGIS Server and registering the service in AGOL but that didn't work as it wouldn't allow for downloading in AGOL (the ArcGIS Server service was publicly available). FYI, you can't publish a standalone table as a feature service with ArcGIS Server, that's the reason I included the empty feature class (spatial layer). Any ideas? Thank you!

I just ran into this same problem with the Default Value still saying "None". Here is what I did: I downloaded my Feature Layer (from ArcGIS Online) to a File Geodatabase and changed the default value of my "Status" field to "Submitted" in my feature class. I then published the File Geodatabase back up to ArcGIS Online and didn't see the change reflected there. Can you confirm whether this issue got fixed yet? You posted this message in March saying it would be fixed "later this month". I'm posted this on May 6th. Thanks for you help!

How do you select features (run a filter) that have a None or Null value in a feature layer? I couldn't see a way to do that with my feature layer.

Hi, thanks for response. The offline mode does seems be working ok now that we have turned off the sharing with a group (the offline map and hosted feature layer are no longer shared with any group). Here is a screenshot of one of my offline areas:

Ok, it seems like this system still has bugs in it even after last nights' AGOL upgrade to 7.1. Five of my offline map areas still say they are "packing" on the main "Manage Areas" screen. When I click on these individual map areas that say "packaging" and go into their individual screens, they show as being done (which they should be since I created them the say before). I refreshed each of these map areas that still had the "packaging" icon/message showing in the main Manage Areas screen in their individual screens. Then finally, the main Manage Areas screen showed all 16 of them ready to download (with no "packaging" icon/message). Unfortunately, the Collector app doesn't reflect this even after I restarted it. THEN... after looking at the Collector app, I went back into the "Manage Areas" screen in AGOL for my offline map and the 5 areas were again showing the "packing" icon/message. What is going on!? This is driving me a little crazy! Seems like there still some bugs in this system. I also found out that the group that they are in needs to NOT allow group members to make updates. There is a new message that says this in the settings windows for my offline map (again with the 7.1 upgrade last night). This is helpful. If I un-share the map with my group, it was disappearing from Collector, or at least it was before the upgrade. I looked at Collector again and it's not refreshing. I think the system maybe having a hard time with some many offline map areas. I am going to try and use maybe only 10. Frustrating.... please fix this!!

Thanks Mark. One thing I have noticed is Collector seems to be locked into offline mode after you have created your Offline Map Areas or am I wrong about that? I haven't found a way to switch back to a live connection map. If this is the way it is designed, then it should be made VERY clear in the help (I haven't read everything in the help documents but I can't remember reading that this way how the app worked). There should also be warnings about the size of the area you download and that if you download a large area with lots of data, it will take a LONG time to download, especially if you choose a high level of detail for your baseball like Streets, Buildings, etc... I do agree that there should be a limit on the number of offline map areas. I would have put the limit a bit higher than 16 though. I would probably have set it at 25 or 30. Thanks for listening. Matt

I am wondering why the new Collector App (from Dec 2018) is limited to 16 offline map areas. This seems very limiting to me.

I talked to ESRI Support today and they confirmed that this is a bug (BUG-000119242) in the system but it will be fixed with the next version (7.1). The workaround is to turn off all sharing and then go in and make your Map Areas. It worked great for me. Make sure to turn off all sharing include the Sharing that you can do directly from the Content window.

Yes, I would want items to expire when they met certain criteria like an expiration date. After they expire, I would expect that they would still be in AGOL or Portal and still visible to those users who have access to it in AGOL/Portal (but no longer visible to the Public). The items could also be flagged as expired like we now have flags for Authoritative and Deprecated. Thanks for following up!

I'd like to see this expiration functionality for content (layers, maps, apps, etc..) in ArcGIS Online (as well as Portal). It would make it so I wouldn't have to remember to manually go back and remove things from Open Data sites, apps and more.

After working with tech support, we concluded that this site somehow got corrupted. I had to delete it and create a new one.
