Hello, Somewhat off topic but I'll share for your consideration anyway. If your version of ArcGIS Enterprise supports shared instances, suggest changing all your infrequently used services from dedicated to shared pool. In our Enterprise this has improved overall computing resource utilization at the cost of supporting a few ArcSOC processes that are fairly large resource consumers. The major benefit has been an overall reduction in the number of ArcSOC processes running and the ability to host more services without running up against heap space limits in the Windows OS. Now a question: Who has a script to change existing dedicated service to shared pool. Todd

Hi Angus, Thanks for your response. I added the registry setting and environment variable CUDA_VISIBLE_DEVICES, but it doesn't seem to make a difference and the issue is still happening. Regards Tim

Thanks AugusHooper1 can you confirm that after installing Arcgis Enterprise in the second VM (VM2) the machine name for Portal for Arcgis (the one you see in Portaladmin ... / portaladmin / machines) was different from that of VM1? The problem in restoring the same machine is slightly different and more complicated and I cannot find any documentation on this solution. In this situation the solution seems to be: 1) reinstall everything 2) change the machine name in the conf file. File For the first point I don't understand what "reinstall" means. Is it possible to restore items and data (for example using webgis DR) or do you have to start from zero?

Yes, but only the S3 buckets that I own, not ones that I have cross-account access to.

Depending on your architecture, you will need to handle changing public ip addresses associated with the EC2. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/using-instance-addressing.html#concepts-public-addresses We release your instance's public IP address when it is stopped, hibernated, or terminated. Your stopped or hibernated instance receives a new public IP address when it is started. This is why Esri documentation & cloudformation templates require an elastic IP as this presents a static IP address for your instance. https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/knowledge-center/ec2-associate-static-public-ip/ You'll also need to double check any internal mappings you have with federation url's, service url's, web adaptor etc etc. Make sure these reference anything other than the public ec2 ip, e.g. your DNS or the private IP. A private IPv4 address, regardless of whether it is a primary or secondary address, remains associated with the network interface when the instance is stopped and started, or hibernated and started, and is released when the instance is terminated.

Thank you for that. We resolved this issue by also applying the GIS Server license (not image server only).

Appears to be related to stats being updated. This occurs in Pro 2.5 but is resolved in later versions. You may noticed the issue resolves if you reload the mosaic dataset or just pan/zoom around. This is resolved in later versions although you may need to ensure the stats are created.

Angus Hooper, Aleksandra Zietara, layer time properties are accessible via the CIM and embedded in the feature table (CIMFeatureTable) properties. See: CIMTimeTableDefinition CIMTimeDataDefinition CIMTimeDisplayDefinition CIMTimeDimensionDefinition I'm not sure how long those items have been exposed in the CIM, but it's been at least since 2.5. Hope that helps! 🙂

Hey Angus Hooper, I have been looking for this information for a few clients now and it doesn't look like its a feature. The documentation covers the data in transit (HTTPS) but there is no mention of at rest. I have found this which may be useful for you. Its for 10.3 but suggests that whole disk encryption should be utilised: ArcGIS for Server 10.3 Security Technical Implementation Guide Happy to discuss further. Thanks, Ben If this answer was helpful please mark it as helpful. If this answer solved your question please mark it as the answer to help others who have the same question.

In a web map, when you add a hosted feature layer or a map service the following icons appear (on mouse hover) under their content pane entry: Legend Attribute table Change style Filter Cluster (hosted only) Analysis An image service only has: Legend Table Filter It would be beneficial to the user experience if this was standardised somewhat - or at least be configurable. We had a user request for "image display" to pop up by default so that it is highlighted to end users as a capability.

As you know, ArcSOC Optimizer is available as an "add-on" (download) from the ArcGIS Monitor Gallery. ArcSOC Optimizer supports ArcGIS Monitor v10.8.0 (current release) and will still be available to support the future ArcGIS Monitor v10.8.1 release. I don't have any information about future core product functionality at this time.

This may be a good idea for an enhancement as well, with the outlook rules as a potential in place work around. You would want to log a support ticket so that we can talk about this in more depth.

Investigating and programatically handling administrative changes to a GIS can be an awkward process. If administrative changes were able to trigger a webhook then this could be plugged into a logging mechanism or change management process. In the same way that /item/ can trigger a webhook, /portaladmin/ should as well. The end goal of such a webhook would be the ability to write all administrative changes to a file. This record can then be used for diagnostic purposes in the event that a major outage occurs. Current mechanisms would require parsing through web server and application logs.
