Hi there, It appears to me that all of our map services with credentials embedded are no longer working in ArcGIS Online as of this afternoon. Could this be the result of a possible platform update that is ongoing tonight? What can I do to help fix this problem? In addition, I did notice that when I add a new map service as an item to ArcGIS Online, it does not give me the option to embed credentials. Please see screenshots for reference to current vs previous popup screen. Thanks in advance, any information on this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your input. However, we have already identified this issue before and have already removed all outdated geoprocessing history and old metadata using the customized python script. The outdated metadata was causing our data to load very slow in ArcMap. This time around, users are simply not able to make connection to the database.

Hi Peter, just to respond to your question, when the issue occurs, it will impact all users regardless of where they are. Thanks.

Hi there, thanks for your input. I don't believe this is a network issue, because we have users from different cities connecting to it. They are all having the same issue. when the issue is occurring, I can still access all other databases within the same instance. Again I reiterate that this is a database specific issue; hence why I do believe that this is more of a DB issue rather than a network issue. Our environment is as followed: - ArcGIS Desktop 10.4.1 - Enterprise Geodatabase at 10.4.1 - SQL Server 2014 I have provided an attachment of a report that shows that transactions with the specified database are being blocked.

Has anyone encounter this issue described below: I have seen this happen frequently within the last few days and it seems to start to pick up its momentum, occurring more often than ever. When I am in ArcMap, I made an attempt to connect to a specific enterprise geodatabase. It would take a lengthy time to connect to the database. You would see an hourglass load forever and ArcMap will appear as if it is not responding. But that is not the case, because the connection will eventually connect. In terms of when it will connect, it is very inconsistent. It can sometimes take 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours and can even be more than that. This is the only database that has this particular problem. When the issue occurs, I can still connect to other databases without any issue. I will admit that it is also the database that is being utilized the most. I would say there are at least 5-10 users connecting to the database and from different locations coming from US and Canada. This issue will come and go and seem to resolve on its on. After speaking to our dba, they seem to hint there is some sort of blocking mechanism taking place from the SQL Server end. This is why it is preventing users from connecting to the database. We are still unable to determine the root cause of this. When we connect through SSMS, we do not have this issue. This issue only occurs when users are connecting from ArcMap. Just hoping to see if someone has seen this issue before as we continue to investigate where the root cause is. Thanks

Hi there, I just want to follow up on this issue again since we were dealing with it recently. What we did to apparently resolve the issue is to simply pull a backup archive from a time before and update the spatial index, The issue does not seem to occur anymore Based on this, my question here is can spatial index potentially corrupt the feature class within the FGDB if not updated accordingly? I was reading the suggestion below on when to update the spatial index and it states that re-creation of the spatial index is recommended only after you have added a large number of feature that differ in size from the features that are already in the feature class. This applies to adding features in edit sessions only. (An overview of spatial indexes in the geodatabase—ArcGIS Help | ArcGIS Desktop) thanks Thanks

I just want to revive this topic, is there a way we could permanently uncheck the option to Edit a version of the database with the ability to undo and redo? Everytime I open my arcmap, the option is always checked off?

Thanks Jacob. I will definitely go through the documents you provided since we are indeed struggling to get arcgis pro virtualized (it is slow on the cloud at the moment). With that being said, my question is more towards the validity of having arcgis desktop setup on the cloud if we are required to receive data from external source. This means we would constantly need to move data in and out throughout the day and on a daiily basis. This becomes very time consuming. I understand the benefit of having it on the cloud, but am wondering that maybe having a local setup is more appropriate for this particular use case as we avoid having to spend significant time on transferring data in and out of the cloud? Thanks in advance for your input, Unfortunately I regret to inform you that I will not be able to attend the conference this year.

Hi there, I understand that there are many benefits when you have your ArcGIS Desktop setup in the cloud. I like to get some insights on what others have done within their organization regarding their ArcGIS Desktop setup. The reason I ask this is that we have a special case here where we are working on a specific project where data are often sent to us externally throughout the day and on a daily basis. We do currently have our setup including our gis data repository in the cloud. The time it takes to migrate the data into the cloud just to view and process it and also having the need to repackage and move out of the cloud back to the client can be very time-consuming. Based on this, I am wondering if it even makes sense to have ArcGIS desktop setup in the cloud. Any input on this matter will be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi there, I've noticed that when I enabled the editing tracking capability within the SDE geodatabase feature class, the names are recorded differently in the attribute table when edits are made in ArcGIS Desktop and on the web. For instance, when I create a feature through the web or say Collector for ArcGIS, it records it as first.last (john.thomas i.e). When I create a feature in ArcGIS Desktop, it is being recorded as FIRST.LAST (JOHN.THOMAS i.e), all caps. My operating Authetnication login is being used to make the connection to the SDE and my logins are all in lower cases. I've read the following description through the help and it states that "For File and personal geodatabases edited with ArcGIS for Desktop clients, and ARcSDE geodatabases you connect to through operating system authentication, the user name written is the operating system login. The value used is set by the text typed by the user when he or she logs in. If he logs in as John, John writes as the user name. If the next day he logs in as john, john writes as the user name". About tracking an editor's changes to data—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop Has anyone seen this before and also how can I correct this since both are being treated as unique values. Many thanks!

Hi All, Currently, I have a drive time polygon Area in a feature class format. This is generated through ArcGIS Online using the Drive time Analysis tool. In the past, I have always been able to perform a spatial join in ArcMap (JOIN_ONE_TO_MANY Operation) to identify all of the drive time polygon area that intersects with my points of interest to identify the shortest drive time and the respected site/facility to the points of interest. This has been a rather simple smooth process to perform until now. I am now looking to derive the three closest facilities and its drive time to the point of interest. In other words from the intersected drive time polygon, I'm now looking to derive not just the closest but the top three shortest distance to the point of interests. I am looking for a process which avoids doing this manually as it is labor intensive and time consuming. I also don't believe it is practical to do this manually. However, I am currently struggling to figure out what that process is to derive the result i'm looking for. Hopefully someone has done something like this in the past and can help shed some light for me. Some how, I feel like this is probably something easy to complete. I am probably just over thinking it. (crossing my fingers) I have provided an attachment of my attribute table which basically shows three columns showing the drive time area polygon that intersect with a particular point. Obviously from looking at it, one can tell that 30, 90 and 240 is the top three shortest drive time to the point. Thanks in advance!
