It is possible to ultimately get a zipped shapefile of a BAO study area but it is has many steps and is not the most intuitive workflow. Basically use the share map to ArcGIS Online. Then go to my content at AGOL and you will find the web map and open it up in a new map. Then you will need to save as a layer to create a feature layer. Open this in a new map and then perform an analysis>manage data>extract data. Finally one will be able to download a zipped shapefile from My Content.

Robert, This is somewhat related to your other post but you will need to run the data install from BA10.1 2011/2016 as well as using that versions .sdlic license file to be able to the network dataset for 2011/2016 (Navteq). You might need to check in with Esri Customer Service to be able to download the 10.1 2011/2016 data install from My Esri. Regards, Jason R.

We are trying to install Business Analyst on a desktop computer and get an error (see attachment) saying that it is "Unable to find Business Analyst 10.2 software install/BA_10.2/setup.msi. Make sure Business Analyst 10.2 install media is inserted and click retry". When i look at the ArcGIS administrator Business Analyst is authorized (has a license) but it says that it is not installed. Any help is greatly appreciated! Scott, First question are you installing from the USB flash thumb drive or from application downloads from the Esri Customer Care portal? Regards, Jason R.

Hi folks, I am doing an analysis comparing jobs to population data and it involves 1,000 sites. I have them all created in BAO. In fact they are a 500 m x 500 m grid. Does anyone have advice on how to best obtain the reports for all of these sites using BAO? I would need it in an Excel format. Thanks for any advice. Andre Levesque, BA CTech GIS Technologist City of Moncton Moncton, NB, Canada Andre, Technically it is possible but a bit labor intensive as this type of functionality falls out the design scope of Business Analyst Online. Creating custom comparison reports (and being able to pick specific data items and export to a vanilla Excel table) 20 sites at a time would likely be the best way to approach this. Also potentially significant credit savings as well versus running a standard report which are 10 credits (one variable to one polygon is standard geoenrichment costs which translates to just .01 credits). Though time/labor intensive side of this means one would need to go through this 50 times for 1000 polygons/study areas. Regards, Jason R.

Jason, I do have a follow-up for you. Did the Dun & Bradstreet business 2013-2018 data replace the old data source from the Info Group. I assume that Esri built a new third party partner to populate the business data in the Business Analyst Extension. Mike Mike, Yes just a data vendor switch for the business data. 2012= InfoGroup 2013= Dun & Bradstreet Naturally support received a lot of call when clients where compare 2012 reports that leverage business data with 2013 because of very different methodologies not only to collection but also sales volume/total employees calculations. Group, I have a question relating to the data for the Businesses from the third party InfoGroup. The sales volume data used to be in 1000's. You would take the number and add three 0's. With my new install 2013 on 10.2, from my analysis, this makes no sense with some local employers. When I add three 0's to some of my small rural employers in east-central, IL we have employers doing over 1 billion in sales for 2013. This is simply not possible in our local economy. Could someone verify how we should use or evaluate the sales volume data for the 2013 data on business sales volume with the 2013 data? Mike, Yes the Dun & Bradstreet business data in the Esri 2013/2018 data release changed things. Where previously SALES_VOL one did add the three zeros. Below is copied directly from the 2013_USA_DandB_Business_Listings_Data_Descriptions.pdf located in the C:\ArcGIS\Business Analyst\US_2013\Documentation for clients that have Business Analyst Desktop. Sales Volume/Assets (SALES_VOL) ??? Estimated sales or assets in U.S. dollars. This is a change from prior years where sales volume was reported in thousands of dollars. Regards, Jason R.

Here's the message. Shawn, It might be a permissions issue so one suggestion is to have one of your IT personnel login to your machine, as they will be a full admin, and see if they receive the same message in Excel. Regards, Jason R.

Hi, I have got an offer to upgrade my esri maps add in to the new version.. since than I'm unable to get my 800 poits od XY data on the map. Is that a known problem? How can I install the old version back? Ynon, Generally it is Esri policy to have just the latest version available. If you can attached the table I can certainly take a look and see if I can reproduce the issue or identify what the problem is. Regards, Jason R.

I can find the new version 2.1.4. http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/arcgisonline/apps/download We don't hear that the new version would be released. And if users upgrade EM4O with the upgrade function, they can upgrade to 2.1.4... There is no announce to release the newest version. Please let us about this as soon as possible. Atsuhito, Looks like it is a modest release which a release to fix a security vulnerability with our implementation of classic token authentication. Classic token authentication is still used heavily by Portal users, so we recommend they upgrade ASAP. The security problem does not affect users connecting to ArcGIS Online via OAuth (ie, most of them). Regards, Jason R.

Hi, I am having issues with running a script that requires the BA extension. I noticed that I have two Business analyst in the Extension window. The unchecked BA has a License not available next to it. Any suggestions on how I can resolved this ? I have logged a ticket with Support, still waiting to hear back from them. Thanks, Phoebe Phoebe, That can be expected. Typically only one of the business analyst line items there can be check marked however I have seen on a few installs that both can be selected (like my install). Having the Business Analyst Standard check marked unlocks everything (Basic versus Standard functions). That 2010 data license might be an issue if that is the Esri 2010/2015 version though the namings of older .sdlics data licenses can be inconsistent. Only the 2011/2016, 2012/2017 and 2013/2018 USA Business Analyst datasets can be installed and licensed on the same system. Regards, Jason R.

Is anyone having any issues with the Evaluate Site wizard using BA 10.2.1? Here is what is happening to me: I choose Evaluate Site, then Find Point by Address. I input the address, it finds the location, everything is fine. Then I want to find a new address, so I repeat the steps but as soon as I finish putting in the 2nd address, it reverts to the 1st address instead. Nothing I do can get the 2nd address to stick. Instead, I have to close the program and start over. This is a pain because sometimes I have a list of multiple addresses I need to find and I really don't want to close the program after every address. Is this something that is fixed in the 10.2.2 upgrade? Paul, The Evaluate Site Wizard is designed for just one point at a time. If you want to create multiple sites by address I would suggest using the Store Setup wizard and use the 'enter stores' addresses' option as that will allow one to keep creating sites by address. Regards, Jason R.

Looking for a solution to designing territories based on more than one resource at a seed location. For instance, if I am designing balanced sales territories where there is more than one sales person at a seed location, how would I go about setting that as a parameter? Each seed location would have differing numbers of sales persons. For example, if one sales person could handle a customer base of 1000, four sales persons could handle 4000. The next territory might have two sales persons and the next territory might have one. The terrorities would be balanced based on the customer base as well as the capacity of the sales team at each location. Is there a parameter control for this in the Territory Design Wizard? If not, is there a practical work-around? Thanks! FM DND Fraser, The quick answer is that this is not possible in Territory Design the scenario you describe have several sales people based out of one location. This is incredibly complex from a coding perspective. I checked in with the Product Engineer on this and it is has been something that has been explored internally developmental-wise but the complexity of the issue currently precludes this functionality. Hi Jason, thank you for the response, I will OD Cost Matrix a try. Do you know what the maximum amount of data that it can run drive time analysis on? Ryan, I have been supporting Business Analyst Desktop for 12 years and with the myriad tools that Business Analyst has I get the most performance related errors with proximity analysis (locator report) and Desire Lines when selecting the options for drive distance or drive time as clients will overwhelm the tools based on the number of records. From my understanding these tools are loading all these streets into memory so it will process till it runs out of usable RAM and that is pretty easy to do even with 64-bit systems and the larger amounts of RAM they allow to be used. Also having 64-bit background geoprocessing might be helpful and then just using ArcCatalog into ArcToolbox and the Network Analyst tools can free up resources. Regards, Jason R.

Greetings! I have a customer data file that contains around 723K customer points for 79 stores that I am trying to calculate the drive times for. I have put my customer and store files into the Business Analyst Store and Customer setup. Whenever I try to run desire lines I keep getting this error: "080040 : Error while executing Desire Lines". Anyone know of a solution? I really need to be able to run all the stores and customers at once as doing one store at a time would be cumbersome and too time consuming. Ryan, Not surprising that this process would fail based on the size of the inputs and attempting to calculate drive time or drive distance as well as a current open bug in NIM085445 which cause an analysis to fail if a point falls upon a non-traversable network element. However directly using Network Analyst to create an OD Cost Matrix (this is basically what Business Analyst is using) it will bypass NIM085445 as there is actually a check box to simply exclude non-traversable network elements. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/#/OD_cost_matrix_analysis/00470000004r000000/ From a best practices perspective you will still more than likely need to run much smaller subsets of data. Regards, Jason R.
