Puzzling. I don't think it should take the long. I have surveys with more than 30 fields, and they republish after adding new fields in much less time than 15+ minutes. Try the tool suggestions. If that doesn't resolve the issue, then it might be time to contact Esri support.

I have also found the 'Tools' in Connect to be quite useful. I use the 'Analyze survey' tool, to check for coding errors, unsupported HTML, etc. Also, I have found updating the XLSForm template has helped with publishing issues. Close your XLS file before running the 'Update XLSForm template' tool. This will bring your template in-line with the current version of Connect. I usually make a copy of the survey project before running the update tool.

Yes, it can take a while to rebuild the service layer with the new fields. How many fields do you have in the survey? How long have you let it run at this step?

Hi. I see this message when I add new fields to the XLSForm in Survey123 Connect for a survey I have already published. Basically, the message is saying during this current publishing step, three new fields have been detected that are not part of the prior published feature service. Click the 'Add' button if you want to add the fields and make them available in the survey.

I worked through and resolved all of the Critical, Warning and Information issues revealed by the 'Analyze survey' tool. Counts are all zero. Same error persists.

Josh, in checking the results of the Analyze survey tool run, there was a message that the XLSForm was outdated. I updated the form using the tool, but this did not resolve the issue, same error persists. Uggghhh!

Survey is fairly new. I checked the version and version date in the XLS form, 3.17, February 21, 2023. This survey was part of Esri's lead line service inventory solution we deployed. We made some change to the survey (XLSForm in Connect), went to republish and it failed. Very frustrating! We copied and modified the survey and successfully published it eventually. I recall running the Update XLSForm template tool prior to the republish. Then running the Analyze survey tool revealed no critical errors. There were some warning and information messages, but they are minor and do not prevent the survey from working.

Hi Josh, Thanks for the great troubleshooting tip. Added the URL to the embed's Description. Selecting different records shows the unique globalids. Puzzling.

Hi Josh, Yes, we see the null comment in the error. The tail end of our URL has: I thought changing the letter case in the {globalid} to {globalId}, but this did not work. Puzzling.

Hello. We have had great success embedding Survey123 forms (built using Connect) in our Dashboards. This allows us to add new survey records and edit submitted ones directly in the embedded survey, and see the results in the dashboard web map and associated elements. Following this model, we built a dashboard to review and validate lead service line survey submissions as part of our service line inventory. We began noticing the error in the screenshot below. This error occurs when we attempt to edit an existing survey record in the dashboard as the first thing we do. If we then open the Survey123 web app, refresh the dashboard browser window, we can then submit the record successfully in the dashboard environment. Completing the survey form in a separate browser window successfully submits the survey record. Hosting is on ArcGIS Online, and we have re-checked the various editing permission settings. While we have a work around, we would like to resolve this issue and understand its cause. Many thanks in advance. Regards, Jay

Yes! This is very helpful, thank you. I had the group 2 option set up (or close to it), but it wasn't working.

I did catch a mixed text case issue, which was causing some problems, but I am still not quite sure how to set up the conditional statements.

I am working on a Survey123 Connect project supporting the exciting (?) topic of refuse cart delivery (trash, recycle and yard waste). Our current paper process is grossly inefficient. We have three cart types: trash, recycle and yard waste, and two sizes for each type: 45- and 95-gallon. One design is to list all possible carts, followed by selecting the carts needed for delivery at a city resident. While this design works, it is not elegant. I was trying to use Relevant option to expose cart sizes based on carts chosen. Instead of having six cart type (and size) choices, I would have the three cart types in the initial select_multiple question. If trash was selected, then a second question is exposed to capture the trash cart size. If recycle is selected, then a second question is exposed to capture the recycle cart size. Same for the yard waste carts. Something like the screen shots below. The cart types are presented and a selection is made, any one cart requested, any two, or all three depending on the resident's needs. then......based on cart type(s) chosen, the size field is then shown, and a size selection made. The size choices are the same for each cart type. I have searched the world wide web and GeoNet, but have not found (yet) an example of how to set up this workflow in the XLSForm, using Relevant statements, or other techniques. I could use some help with my limited Connect form building skills. Many thanks in advance.

Hi Joe et al on this thread......I was trying to make this same idea happen, then found your posts. I have a Survey123 Connect survey (editable) embedded in an internal review Dashboard. The Survey is completed by residents and provides information on their water service line, as part of our lead service line inventory program. Once the survey is submitted, we review the information internally, and select 'Yes' if we conclude the service line is properly identified (validated) or 'No' if we conclude we need to investigate further (invalid). The field remains "empty" in the survey attribute table until we select yes or no. I would like the Category Selector to List All, Validated Surveys, Invalid Surveys, and those Waiting Validation. The last category is the one in question - how can I list only those survey records still waiting our review? I am guessing I may have to add a "null" choice to the yes/no choice list in the Connect XLSform, to get this to work. Any other ideas are welcome. I did upvote your idea. Regards, Jay One of my many iterations......clicking on 'Waiting Validation' returned 'No Data' in the element.
