That is how we used to get Tasks, but now in 10.2.6 the problem is that the Tasks collection no longer exists on the LocalGeoprocessingService. Your examples show to use the Tasks collection, but if you look at the Properties of LocalGeoprocessingService, Tasks does not exist. The property cannot be resolved. LocalGeoprocessingService Class

In the WPF Runtime, we had a geoprocessing tool that allowed the user to load their own custom geoprocessing packages. We create the geoprocessor basically as follows: _service = await LocalGeoprocessingService.StartAsync(definition.Path, GeoprocessingServiceType.SubmitJobWithMapServerResult, 30000); var firstTask = _service.Tasks.FirstOrDefault(); _geoprocessor = new Geoprocessor(new Uri(_service.UrlGeoprocessingService + "/" + firstTask.DisplayName)); Now in the Runtime for .NET the Tasks collection is not available. We will never have the ability to hard code the task name like the examples all show. Is there any way to dynamically get the Task names from the server without having to scrape the html page or do something similarly obnoxious? Thanks

As far as I can tell without official response from Esri, it was deprecated. I used the new Bookmark class to create my own, which was easy but still annoying.

This is not correct for the .NET Runtime map. I get an error when I use an empty mpk with just an empty GroupLayer in it. It requires an empty feature layer in order for it to be successful. I used this as a reference when I was trying to figure out why my dynamic layer was failing to be initialized. Any chance there might be a way to add a truly empty mpk for this purpose to the Runtime map eventually?

Did Esri deprecate the Bookmark tool from the Runtime for WPF? It won't be particularly difficult to recreate something similar, but I was just wondering if I might not have to.

Dominique, is this explanation in the API documentation anywhere? This seems like very important information to leave out! We would not have been able to figure this out had we not found this thread.

Thank you! That did the trick. When would be the right time to use new SpatialReference() rather than SpatialReference.Create()?

I did try that and just set it using Map.SpatialReference = new SpatialReference(4326); before I added any layers but that didn't work for me either and I still got the sref error. Is there a better way to set the Map.SpatialReference?

Another update: if I add my BackgroundGroupLayer after the regular GroupLayer, it works fine and I can add shapefiles/etc. to it. It's only when it's the first layer added that it fails.

Hmm, apparently the problem is that I am using an extended version of the GroupLayer. If I use a straight up GroupLayer it works, but when I use my extended version it does not. At the moment my layer is very simple, and it's just so I can pass around my specific IBackgroundGroupLayer easily throughout my code without requiring Esri references: public class BackgroundGroupLayer : GroupLayer, IBackgroundGroupLayer { public BackgroundGroupLayer() : base() { DisplayName = "Backgrounds"; ID = "Backgrounds"; ShowLegend = true; } } Is there some reason Esri would not support extending a Layer class? It's not sealed, so what's the purpose of not allowing this?

Yes, in my original post I said "I also tried adding the dynamic layer to the GroupLayer first and then adding the GroupLayer to the Map.Layers, but that also failed and gave me the spatial reference error." The one thing I am not doing that you are is creating a new instance of Map, but I'm not sure why I would have to do that since it's a brand new map anyway. I guess I will try that and see if it helps? Thanks

I have an offline .mpk that I would like to load into a GroupLayer on startup (not in xaml). I am doing this in my ViewModel. If I add the ArcGISDynamicMapServiceLayer directly to the Map.Layers, it works fine. If I add the GroupLayer first and then add the dynamic layer, it doesn't work and I get a spatial reference error. So, I tried to set the SpatialReference on the Map before adding the GroupLayer, and it works for adding the GroupLayer but then I get the spatial reference error when the dynamic layer is added. I also tried adding the dynamic layer to the GroupLayer first and then adding the GroupLayer to the Map.Layers, but that also failed and gave me the spatial reference error. How can I add a GroupLayer containing an ArcGISDynamicMapServiceLayer on startup??

1. Do you support any modifier labels on military messages other than T - Unique Designation? I remember there being at least fields for Additional Information and maybe a few others in the Runtime for WPF, but I can't find any information on that for .NET. If not, I guess the only solution is to add the labels one by one for each graphic using TextSymbols? 2. It seems that the required labels for tactical graphics don't even work. Is that the case? I am looking at the Military Planner app to test out the capabilities of the MessageLayers. For example, a Restricted Operations Zone should have the identifying label "ROZ" along with T and labels for altitude and date/time, and the only label I seem to be able to add is T, although it doesn't show up on my graphic.

Any update on this yet? I couldn't find anything in release notes for 10.2.5 or 10.2.6 so I'm assuming you still don't support non-Present status on military symbols.
