I have a wms layer in the map that I want to programmatically save as a layer file. Using Geoprocessing.ExecuteToolAsync("management.SaveToLayerFile", args); doesn't seem to work with wms layers. As an experiment, within ArcGIS Pro I tried the corresponding Save to Layer File tool in the Data Management toolbox and it ignores the wms layer, so I'm guessing that is why my code doesn't work. However, within Pro you can right click on the wms layer in the TOC and select Sharing > Save As Layer File and this does work, so I'm wondering if there is some way to access this programmatically. Thanks, Karen

Hi Narelle, Thank you for the information. Regarding your question about transform vs. rubbersheet for selected features, I need to rubbersheet (which is one of the "Transform" tools in Pro, so I got confused with my wording). It sounds like all of the things I need (anchors/rubbersheet area and rubbersheet selected features) will be in 2.9. Do know approximately when this release will happen? Thanks again, Karen

When I programmatically use the Edit Operation Rubbersheet method, I get different results than when I use the ArcGIS Pro Rubbersheet Transform tool (Edit tab > Modify button > Modify Features dockpane > Alignment > Transform) with the EXACT same features, links, anchors and rubbersheet area . Specifically, the many of the anchors are being ignored in the programmatic version and the rubbersheet area is completely ignored. I also really need to be able to only transform selected features, but this still doesn't seem to be working programmatically (even though it can be done using the Transform tool), so I thought I could instead set the rubbersheet area, but since this isn't working either I'm in a bind. Anyone have any suggestions for a work-around or some other way to do this?

Hi Sean, Within Pro v2.8.2 the rubbersheet method now seems to be working correctly when I use the Transform tool within the application (I'm comparing the results to ArcGIS Desktop), but programmatically I'm still having problems. There still doesn't seem to be any way to make it work only on selected features. However, it does seem to use only selected links, which is good. Also, my programmatic results are different from the results I get using the Transform tool with the exact same features, links and anchors. Specifically, it the programmatic version doesn't seem to be using the anchors properly. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Karen

Hi Ken, I immediately went and tried this in 2.7 and it also created the feature class with XY tolerance = 0. I don't have 2.6 convenient, so I couldn't try that, but I'm sure it will be the same because the gdal code is working independently of Pro, and it's the same gdal version and the exact same code. Perhaps it might cause a crash, but so far that hasn't been the case - it seems to work fine - the only problem I've had is in 2.8. It's unfortunate that the only way to fix this in Pro is by creating a new feature class. Karen

Hi Ken, The feature class was created using Gdal (open source). It was created with a region setting that uses a comma decimal separator. When I just tried it with a decimal point instead of a comma region setting, the feature class was created with a non-zero XY Tolerance, so I guess that is why I am only seeing the problem when using region settings that use a comma. So at least part of the mystery is solved. What is still a mystery is that ArcGIS Pro 2.6 and 2.7 didn't seem to mind the XY-Tolerance = 0, but 2.8 does. Was that a bug in 2.6 and 2.7 (that happily allows my software to work correctly in those versions)? Anyway this is helpful information. Now I know the problem IS caused by the region settings, but it a combination of how Gdal creates the feature class with those settings and how ArcGIS Pro 2.8 handles the incorrect Tolerance. So now I at least have some idea how I might be able to solve this. Thanks, Karen

Thanks Narelle! I will give that a try. The geometry is z-enabled as soon as I retrieve it from the non-z-enabled feature class. If it's possible to save a z-enabled polygon in a non-z-enabled feature class, I supposed it could have happened when the polygon was initially created and saved.

Hi Narelle, I checked and the individual geometry DOES show HasZ = true, even though the feature class is not z-enabled. Is there any way I can set the z flag to false? Karen

Thanks Wolf, Please keep me updated on what you find out about the data issue. These exact same geometries worked fine in v2.6 and 2.7, so I can't help but think that something in Pro changed in 2.8 to cause this issue. When I use your "call back" code in my application (as opposed to in the solution you sent, where I had it working), I keep getting the "Geometry cannot have z-values" error on the SetShape() method even though the data doesn't have z-values!?!? Very strange..... and also a bit frustrating. Thanks for your help. Karen

Something was weird was going on with the data I was using (which was different that what I sent you). It seems to be working now. Yay! Am I correct in assuming this line doesn't need to be in there?: editOperation.Modify(modifyLayer, 117, sourcePolygon);

Hi Wolf, When I try this code I get an error on line 64 (SetShape) that says "Geometry cannot have z-values". This is using the same data I sent you. Karen

Thanks! I will give this a try. Will this call back operation work in Pro v2.6 and 2.7?
