Hello. I hope all is well to whomever is reveiwing this post. First off, I realize that the following question may very well be one of those face palm moments for me. I tend to have them more often than not, so I'm ready. I work with a few clients and now a couple have AGO instead of Portal The issue is custom widget deployment. I have been working with WAB (embedded) with a Portal Setup. No worries here as the custom widget shows up in the WAB interface. Easy Peezy! Using custom widgets for an ArcGIS online setup for me at the moment is like hitting a major league curve. I have downloaded the WAB-DEV edition and successfully installed it, At least according to the documentation and videos I have watched. I understand how to pull in a custom code (not yet ready to write my own). Ok, I get that as part of the setup, there is a requirement of registering the instance with the client with whom I am working. (BTW, can there be multiple instance of WAB-DEV on my laptop- one for each client?). The main question I have is when ready to Deploy, am I correct in thinking that the application (with the custom widget) can be on any web facing server?, perferably the client's own webserver. This way the web app is on a local webserver but it is still access the arcgis online organizational account for data. Sorry if the above sounds confusing. If any one can confirm I am on the right side of the road, or if not, maybe help me get on track. thanks, Stay well and Healthy.

With a client, I am currently using a couple of FGDB in an ArcGIS 10.8 environment to edit and publish several small town water and sewer datasets. Normally I VPN into their network and edit data through a Desktop on a network machine. What I would like to do is access the data from this client through a published web map with editing capabilities using ArcGIS Pro, so as to access the network utility tools. I have read that this can not be done with the data in a FGDB as the data needs to be in an Enterprise database (SQL). A multi user environment would be nice and help, but not critical in this instance. Soooooo, my question is "can SQL Express be used as the Enterprise database?" If so, are there any tricks, potholes or other issues that should be considered? Thanks James Armstrong

Sue, I believe it does require layers to be add individually. At least that is how I am working. There may be another solution to this, or there could have been a fix, but in all honesty, I have moved on to other issues and have not circled back to check. If you do find more information on this or a better way, than please share. Good Luck! James

I have Portal for ArcGIS working well at two locations. The biggest issue is that users get a print error when accessing an image service from an outside agency. I have attached a image of the error message. If the background image is changes, printing seems to work fine. Both instances of Portal experience the same thing. I have communicate with the agency, but have not found a solution - other than use a different service, which I would rather not do. thanks James Armstrong

I am new to Sites, but think that it is a very powerful presentation method. After watching several video and reading several articles on Sites, I have successfully set up 1st. Some more tweaking and content editing is needed, but it is there. I saw in one of the videos where it was suggested that the Site applications be put in a group so as to present the sites as a banner on the Portal home page. Easy enough and I was successful in doing so. My problem is that when I click the site icon on the banner page, the result is to open up the details and summery page, instead of the Site itself. Is there a process to change the URL so the site iself is accessed from the banner icon? James

Hey Jennifer, Yes the URL is: ArcGIS Web Application The images are with the dots in the lake. The data (and images) was collected using Survey 123. It was my first use of that cool tool. the URL for the feature service is> Layer: surveyPoint (ID: 0) I do see that when I hover over the image in the popup, the url in the bottom left does not end with a .jpg Any suggestion you may have to better access the photos would be very helpful. Jennifer, Thanks so much for posting this as I have an application that needs it badly. I followed the instructions and actually got it to work. Beautiful. One thing though....I notice that when I click on the picture (actually right click) there is an option to open the photo in a new browser tab. I like this, however, for some reason, when I click on a picture in my app, all I get is a download request. Im not sure it is something with the script, but have you seen or heard of this before, and if so, would you have a suiggestion on what I might try so that the phot opens in a browser? (Chrome, IE, Firefox and Edge) Thanks James Armstrong

I am working in a Portal environment. Is there a method to elongate lines showing in the legend or layer list widgets. I am attaching a screen shot of what I am getting. If the lines could be elongated just a few inches, that would be great. Thanks James

Nice article. Do you know if there is a class or webinar on using ARCADE. I am speaking more of a deeper dive that I have seen on internet so far. Perhaps I am missing something that is already there. Thanks James

Hey Kelly, I wonder if the reason you gave above is also relevant to my not being able to add a field. That option does not appear anywhere. I am using Portal, but should that matter? James

OK, My Bad. I figured this out. IN order to use this function, the layer needs to come into the web map as an individual feature layer. using a full map services will not work. James
