I figured you had it on the road map somewhere. I am still digging deeply into what it can/cannot do and it is a huge leap forward. I know I am just one voice on this, but I am sure the community at large is trying to wrap their head around how flexible it is, not to mention capable.

I was just looking for that function. I'll put it in my backlog of "good things coming".

Share your dashboard(s) to give each other some ideas as to what is possible. Along with that, post your pinch points where you are having difficulties. NOTE: If anyone needs to see how I put together some of my metrics, post a comment. Happy to share. My specific pinch points are... You can monitor Portal, but it does not pick up the sub components (eg. Host, Datastores, etc.) You cannot monitor federated host servers if you have turned off the primary site administrator (PSA) as Host servers. Monitor thinks all servers are Host servers. It would be great if we could have some pre-built options to show Kbps vs. Mbps vs. Gbps or at least let us add in math for things like that. Some pre-built examples would be great so we have a patterns to look at, ie. for a host server you can get published service counts by doing X, for Portal you can get item counts by doing Y, etc..etc. Outside of those couple of items, what an amazing improvement! Supremely happy with the results and am enjoying the rigors of putting together dumbed down dashboards for management to have eyes on with. Value added item....if possible: Could we make it possible to hook in ArcGIS Online only to pull things like Total numbers of users, Total number of items in the org, etc...etc. Perhaps even being able to monitor the RSS feed for issues would be great. Having 1 system that can monitor the entire Enterprise would be supremely helpful.

That would be great! I am sure it would help someone out since we are not all in the PostgreSQL world. If they could add compatibility to v15 too, it would be great. I guess when I was installing all the documentation on requirements wasn't out so it was a bit of a guessing game. There are a few oddities/quirks. I may pull it down and reinstall everything just to drop the quirks.

Probably explains the one or two minor bugs that popped up relating to a db issue. Maybe I will pull it down and rebuild it now that the documentation is there.

Oh geez! You're right on the nose there. My bad. I have a similar situation on my end with regards to archiving. I just dealt with it by disabling the relate (during maintenance) and dropping the archiving and then turning it back on followed by a rebuild of the relationship. Cleans it up, keeps it smaller (long term).

So...situationally, when I was getting this on the road, the documentation on database requirements was not there. I rolled the dice knowing I could roll back the server and try again. I am not thoroughly familiar with PostgreSQL considering I am a Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL guy typically. In truth though, it was not all that dissimilar to any other database or management interface. Give it a whirl. It's a VM. 😉

Tie them to your identity management solution for your network. You can use that to enforce MFA.

Do not shrink the DB using the SQL Server admin tools or commands. You will cause yourself more headache than it is worth. Performance problems with your DB is usually due bad indexes & stats or garbage in the metadata or configuration issues or not using best practices in some form or shape. Obviously, all things we all (generally) deal with on a day to day basis. If you are running into issues, I would... Check your how versioning is working for you. Make sure you are at state 0 if possible, that is if you are using traditional versioning. Branched versioning adds its own special flavor to the sauce which makes it more difficult to unravel (it essentially acts like archiving, but different). Rebuild your stats and indexes. Delete geoprocessing history (https://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000027149). You would be surprised how much this can gunk up operations. If you are SQL Server, check if you are on full or simple recovery model. If full, you may need to check your log file size and handle that. Shrink your database - Use this And then there are other database configuration options, etc. Hope this helps.

I installed 15.1. While it was in alpha, Monitor could connect to SQL Server which was super awesome. Performance wise though, I get why they went with PostgreSQL considering the number of data points/performance.

8 core 32GB to 64GB (per component) is about my average as well. I have some things that are smaller, but that would be the web adaptors or some low use component. WRT how I configured things, I configured PostgreSQL to be on the same server as Monitor. This eliminated me needing to request another box, and since we are not really setup to support it (from an org enterprise perspective), it kept it out of prying eyes/hands/fingers. No, PostgreSQL is not included in the installation. You have to do that all on your own. You can set it up on another server entirely, but it worked just fine for me on one box. Resource wise, its been solid to date with plenty of room to spare. I think I would have preferred a black box solution like using a datastore server perhaps, but that's just me trying to be lazy.

We're not a PostgreSQL shop, so I had to deploy an instance. To save on machines, I opted to put it on the same box as monitor. Been working pretty good and memory utilization has been around <12% with CPU bouncing up to 50% every so often. Its a leaner and meaner than the old version. 🙂

Is anyone else running into issues getting the latest flavor up and running? I am getting these types of errors: error: create table "agm_schema" ("id" serial primary key, "name" varchar(255), "batch" integer, "migration_time" timestamptz default CURRENT_TIMESTAMP) - no schema has been selected to create in from a locally installed PostgreSQL database w/ Monitor.
