Hi Scott, You are correct with the two angles to this request. I work for a multinational engineering firm where we collect a lot of data on site. Many sites are offline, however users require the attachments in the field. Sometime projects can have upwards of 3000 records with 15 attachments at each site. Full res photographs are required for their detail in the design process so when collection occurs this is stored. Syncing back to devices with the full res photographs is painful, and having an option of only pulling down thumbnails would solve this.ai Further to this, allowing custom popups access to thumbnail version would allow for quicker review of data in the cloud environments. Options to use the thumbnails rather than originals in Survey123 reports etc etc. At the moment we download the service as FGDB, export attachments, then resize attachments to low res thumbnails for use in the respective parts. if you require further use cases i would be happy to share Regards, Nick

Hi James, I understand that the editor tracking can be changed to whatever schema one prefers. I am however referring to the default fields that are added when a service is published, or editor tracking enabled on Feature classes. It seems there is no consistency between all the products on the default fields used. It will make a lot of our set procedures and function design easier if the defaults were all standardised. Instead of having this added overhead of standardising the editor tracking if you building your schema in ArcCatalog, Portal, AGOL or Via Survey123. Nick

Hi James, Do you have any further ideas regarding this or know of anyone that can help. Specifically, when a 401 is returned to Survey123 it does not know what to do with it? However when a 401 is received by Collector it immediately pops up an input form to authenticate? Can you explain how Survey123 currently handles 401's Nick

Hi James, Any further developments on the editing of repeat questions through the inbox functionality. I have about four projects that would benefit highly from this. At the moment we are generating new surveys and Combining the information in the backend databases after downloading. This functionality would be highly regarded Nick

An idea we would like to see is an option for both Survey123 and Collector, to store original Size (or a local copy) photographs to the Camera Roll or Device storage and have the option to either, only attach the thumbnails (or chosen resized version as attachments) and store originals (unrestricted) to camera roll, physically attach none store local only, or an option to use as currently is. This is especially useful where very photo dependant surveys are required in an offline environment. Downloading new data due to the size of the records with the attachments can take a very long time. Also the attachment posting can take a very long time in limited reception. An option to send attachments only via Wifi would be really handy too. Also it is sometimes necessary to keep a very high res version as you may need to zoom in to the required object without losing significant quality. Something that cant be done easily in the current workflows and Sizes without only capturing unrestricted sizes. In AGOL potentially have the thumbnails as the primary but allow users to view the associated original (unrestricted)

James Tedrick Hoping you could lend a hand. I am trying to build up a Survey123 Custom URL Scheme to open another survey and parse parameters from the one form to the other. Based on some conditional questions if certain answers are met the user should rather be entering the data in a separate survey. Hence the workflow. Basically the User will be doing an asset audit but then we would like to parse some parameters from that audit through to a safety form before they proceed the audit. I need to build up the Custom URL. I can build the full URL up using a calculation and if I copy the result to my browser it works: concat("arcgis-survey123://?itemID=BLAHBLAHBLAH","&field:Project_Code=",${ProjectNo},"&field:Project_Name=",${ProjName}) However I try to wrap them in the HREF formats by concatenating the HREF tags to build up the full URL so that it forms a hyperlink so the user can click on it and it take him to the appropriate Survey. However I cannot seem to get this to work. Somewhere in the interpretation of the double quotation marks within the concat I cant seem to get it to interpret this properly. The Question is, how do I quote the Quotation marks within the concat function which will build up the text for the HREF? I have tried the usual """", \", " Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Nick

Thanks for the quick response James, Our workflow requires us to have data exposed via AGS (IWA) (unfederated) and added as an item in AGOL for use with survey123. Is there any way of getting this to work? as we already have established workflows with ArcGIS Collector and would really like to implement the smart form capabilities of Survey123 together with this data. Or is the only way to establish Federated Services with portal either IWA or Token based authentication.

Hi Team We are having issues getting survey123 to work with IWA and non-federated feature services. According to the release info in https://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/2017/04/27/whats-new-in-version-2-0-of-survey123-for-arcgis/ IWA is supported, however we cant seem to make any headway. We have a very specific workflow that we have been trying to get to work using non-Federated Feature Services and Survey123 with a server that uses web-tier / IWA authentication. We currently collect a lot of field data back to non-federated features services using Collector for ArcGIS which works well, however a similar workflow does not work for Survey 123. Our Collector workflow at the moment is establishing the web services on our own infrastructure then adding these web services to an AGOL map. Using this webmap we are able to login to our AGOL, then using our organizational credentials authenticate for the individual feature services within that map. Collector pulls up an additional authentication window to do this. So I have followed the following workflow: http://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000014793 Before the recent AGOL updates we were able to Add Item from Web (without embedding credentials due to the iwa) to generate a proxy service however we now get a “Required – Valid Service credentials not fully specified” Error. Then from this Proxy we generated the Survey123 form and published successfully. With Survey123 on an IWA platform we could submit without issues as the authentication worked. However on a non IWA platform (IOS) we would get the 401 Unauthorized we submit the surveys. I would have thought at this stage Survey123 would recognise the 401 and pop up a credentials pop up to authenticate to the service. Is this the expected behaviour? If I try and use our URL (not the Proxy) as the submission URL and then on publishing using version 2.3.24) I get “The custom feature service Submission_url is not compatible with this survey (Request Error Missing serviceItemId)” Any help as to why we can’t add item from the web firstly in AGOL would be appreciated and then some knowledge around the expected behaviour in Survey123 when a 401 is returned, and then also why we cant use our URLs as a submission_url? Thanks in advance Nick Marika diligentpig ichivite-esristaff JTedrick-esristaff

Hi diligentpig, Thanks, That was very helpful. The particular service I was testing with is an Older feature service on AGOL. The "keywords" property is not supported on it according to your description above with all photographs appearing in a single attachments Node. I will test this functionality on another Test service but from what you are saying you response above would have solved my issue. Thanks for the Help
