Hi Dan, Thank you for your response. Yes this cheat is something I read about before and will definitely consider implementing if I find I will be changing my layers around frequently. The only problem is that this is several more steps and layers added depending on the workflow, which is definitely a deterrent compared to just adding rectangle graphics. If you think this would be a great addition to raster symbology, fell free to give my idea Kudos over on ArcGIS Pro Ideas "Adding borders around legend patches". Also, if you think I could add more information or detail in that idea, fell free to help me improve it! Thanks!

Hi Tom Thank you for bumping up this issue on the priority list. Does Esri have an enhancement request number/ or BUG number that we can use when contacting support regarding this issue? Best regards Klaus Dons

On version 2.7.1 - map series dynamic text based on attribution changes the displayed value in the layout as I flip through the pages in Pro BUT it picks one value and only displays that one value when I export the pages to pdf. If I export one page of the map series at a time the resulting pdf has the correct attribute value used in the dynamic text. Exporting all pages at once causes this problem. Good to know a "workaround" but this largely defeats the purpose of a map series, at least if you require attribute based dynamic text

You can rotate the map series, but then you risk gaps between sheets as a result of the fact that the map series will be created at the center of index polygons. Lets say the map frame is 7" wide by 8" tall then in the Strip Map Index GP tool we choose vertical for page orientation. lets say the alignment of used in the GP tool makes a 90° turn. The polygons will all orient accordingly slowly making the right turn. Say in the map series you then orient everything north. Areas where the 8" was oriented east/west may then get cut-off in your map frame that is now only 7" wide. You can probably account for this by increasing your % overlap when running the GP tool, but it is not the best solution. For my purposes, the index map that I create from the polygons would also be incorrect if the map series always orients north because the polygons will still orient in random directions. The best solution has been for me to use Grid Index Features and orient and size the polygons to exactly match the shape and orientation of the map frame used for my map series. Cheers, Justin

Fynn, You cannot associate a different layout page to a specific map series page of a different layout. You might be able to do this using python, but I cannot confirm this. You can "fake" this by creating a copy of the layout/map series. One copy that shows the map, & one that covers the map (ex: with a rectangle graphic that is the same color as the page. This way the dynamic elements (text, table frame, legend) are still tied to a map extent driven by the index layer features. You will probably need 2 versions of the index layer, each with field to extract the page number. The "map" index layer may be all even numbers while the "text" index layer has all odd numbers. You'll have to figure out what you want the page numbers to be. Once you've exported both map series to PDFs you can use python to create a single PDF product as illustrated, I believe, in the sample - MapBooksInPro_Pro1.0_v1 . Tom

Hi Greg, You should be able to get the label to draw next to the symbol patch by having the Label (or layout name) checkbox toggled on and the Layer name and Headings checkboxes toggled off as seen in the example below. If this does not work for you there may be something particular with the data or with the raster layer properties. Hope this helps, Tom

Your description matches with our understanding of the issue. I don't think we need anything more at this time. Once the fix is in your hands please feel free to let us know if there any additional issues. Thanks for the feedback!

I can't see the images you've attached to your post, so I'm guessing as to what the error is, but if you're using the python window in ArcGIS Pro, you shouldn't need to include the "import arcpy" line. The only other difference I can see between your script and mine (besides the layout name "TEST" and output pathway) is there is an extra "space" before the lyt.exportToPDF command - dunno if this should impact on it though. Maybe also test a shorter output folder (i.e. f"C:\Temp\{lyt.name}.pdf") and see if that works first. Also, the latest ArcGIS Pro update (2.7.1) has fixed this issue so you can avoid all this if you update your software (as per the solution post below).

Tom: My issue from back in November solved itself! Never knew why PRO did not want to print to a printer or make a .pdf, but it's now working. Interesting a similar thing has happened in my WebApps - we have Enterprise. When I use the print widget from my app, sometimes it'll make my .pdf, .jpeg, etc. And sometimes it just gives an error. Some kind of server thing or something? Anyway, it does usually work. Thanks for your help. I'm about to post another question here to the Community . . . .
