Hi Marissa, Custom grid support in ArcGIS Pro is something we hope to do in the next year or so. Here is a link to an Idea that covers this very topic - https://community.esri.com/ideas/13763. I encourage you to "vote up" this idea. This helps us gauge the relative importance of an issue and prioritize projects. Thanks, Tom

Michael, Looks like you would import 1 table from excel into a map, insert a table frame into the layout and then format the pieces. You would lose the formatting you had in excel. We do plan on adding table frame template in the future to make this easier, but I don't know when we will get to it. Tom

Chris, You can import an Excel spreadsheet into ArcGIS Pro. See Work with Microsoft Excel files in ArcGIS Pro—Excel | ArcGIS Desktop for more information. Once you have the table in a map you can add the table to the layout by inserting a table frame. See Add and modify table frames—Layouts | ArcGIS Desktop. In ArcMap you could add object such as an Excel spreadsheet to a layout an an OLE object. This workflow is not supported in ArcGIS Pro. See 20039: OLE objects are not supported and were dropped from the layout—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop. Currently, there are no plans to support OLE (objects linked to MS applications) in ArcGIS Pro. To support workflows that previously depended on OLE we are focusing on making improvements from within Pro. For example, we have added an improved table element and are working on improvements to formatting when using copy and paste into text elements from Microsoft Word. Hope this helps, Tom

Vincent and Matt, Another way to read text is to hover the mouse over the table cell. You should get a tool tip displaying the entire text. Tom

Matt, The Table View does offer the ability to zoom in. You can adjust the zoom level using the controls at the bottom right of the view. This should help with readability. Hope this help, Tom

Hi Levi, You won't be able to append the page name to a dynamic text statistic element. You will need to insert a separate dynamic element to get the map series page name. You can get the page name by inserting a dynamic text element from the Map Series group. You could also use the "Value" dynamic text element to achieve the same result. Since you are working with 2 elements on the layout you'll need to pay attention to the anchor points of the elements to make sure the text is lined up as you expect as you go through the map series pages. Hope this help, Tom

Hi Konstantinos, Unfortunately, we do not yet have an easy way to resize all legend elements simultaneously while maintaining all the dynamic function of the legend. This is something that ArcGIS Pro users have identified on the ideas site - Scale Legend Contents Automatically with change in size. If you are not worried about having a dynamic legend that updates automatically, for example when you add or remove layers or change a layer's rendering, you can convert the legend to graphics (right click the legend item in the Contents Pane and click Convert to Graphics from the context menu) and resize the newly created graphics group. If you do need the legend to be dynamic please refer to the Legend Arrangement section of the help topic Work with a legend—Layouts | ArcGIS Desktop. Hope this helps, Tom

Hi Chris, I'm not aware of any known issue with Table Frames that would result in the issue you're reporting. Unfortunately, without the steps/data to reproduce your issue there is very little troubleshooting that can be done. Are you able to contact Esri Support? They are better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support. Tom

Hi Kate, Page queries need to be based on the attribute being used by the index layer to drive the name of each map series page. Here is the specific help for this (See Page query—Layouts | ArcGIS Desktop😞 A page query is a dynamic SQL where the clause is based on the values of the designated page name field for the map series. Therefore, layers being defined must contain an attribute and appropriate values that can be matched to the designated page name field of the map series index layer. This is no different than how it works in ArcMap see Using Page Definition Queries—Help | ArcGIS Desktop In order to "cut down on the noise" in your map series you might want to consider using a masking layer. Here is an example of what I mean by masking layer. Lets say I want to create a map series of US States where I want to display the basemap/layers only for the state for the state's page. For example, for the Alabama page I only want to display the basemap/layers that are in Alabama. Step 1 - Create a new polygon layer, "Polygon Envelope", that surrounds all the index features. Step 2 - Create a new layer (masking layer) that is the UNION of the polygon layer that encompasses the index layer, "Polygon Envelope", and the index layer, "US. States (Generalized)". This new layer should have both the geometry and attributes you can use in the map series. Step 3 - Symbolize this layer as needed. I want the areas outside to be white with no border. Step 4 - Create my map series with the Name Field equal to "STATE_NAME". Step 5 - Open the properties for the masking layer and under Page Query set the filter such that the features that show DO NOT Match the page name. Now you should have a masking layer that effectively filters out the noise in your map. Of course this was a very quick and simplistic example, but it should help you get started. Hope this helps, Tom

Chris, You can use a rectangle text element to control the width and set the callout on the text symbol to get something close to what you're looking for. The text should wrap around to a new line within the element and have the callout sized correctly for each text string. With some tweaking you should be able to limit the width as you want. However, any Y offset will not be dynamic and will not change as the text changes. Not the solution you're looking for I know, but hopefully this helps. Tom

Scale bar accuracy depends on the spatial reference of the map, the scale of the map and where on the map you are measuring distance. It doesn't matter kind of data (raster imagery, vector features) are in the map. Here are some links for more information on scale bars. Choosing the best way to indicate map scale FAQ: Why does the scale bar measure incorrectly when the ArcMap Data Frame is in a Geographic Coordinate System? Scale bar inaccurate on a projected geo-referenced map image, why? Tom

Chris, A better solution may be to set a "Background" callout for the Text symbol. Here, you can set a background, border and margin as you see fit. This would replace setting a border and background for the element itself. Make sure that the the anchor point of the text element is set so that as the text size changes the element anchored correctly. You may have to experiment a bit here to see what works best for your layout. Hope this helps. Tom

In the meantime, you can use Offset X and Offset Y to position text within the rectangle. Unfortunately, you'll need to make adjustments for each text element based on size of rectangle and text string.

Gauthier, Here's some information that I got from one of our 3D experts. Scale is continuous and changing across a 3D view, so the traditional idea of scale bars don’t work in scenes - things that are far away are at a different scale than things that are closer. Technically something could be done in Parallel (aka “isometric”) view mode, but we don’t have the math / conversion-factor for that available. For an in-scene solution (ie: creating an object that displays in the scene itself), he could use the Cage symbol. This builds a 3D grid around an object, where the number, gap, and heights of the grid lines can be configured (as needed). Steps: Add a 2D polygon feature around the model (best practice – rectangular shape with well-defined side lengths, like “100m”) Drag that layer into the 3D category in the TOC Click symbol in TOC to open Symbology pane, search All Styles for “cage”, choose the “Parcel Cage” symbol Configure the symbol - height of cage, number of grid lines, display of numbers, colors, etc Bonus points: use attribute-driven symbol properties to make different cage symbols per feature Tom

Hi Gauthier, What is it that you want to scale bar to measure? If it is not a map, as Dan suspects above, I don't think you can use a scale bar element as it is designed to work with a map. You can convert a scale bar to a set of graphic elements and change these elements as you see fit. Hope this helps. Tom
