Hi Matt, Thanks for the quick resposne. Ok I understand, is it possible to manually edit these dynamic parcels with the "polygon shape creation" tool much like you would edit a satic one? Best, Devon

Hello Everyone, I'm using cityengine for city planning to show proposals of developement/re-developments. My question pertains to importing street data and parcels. I understand you can import streets and parcels separetely or generate them yourself. My problem here is if I have import exact parcels and want to see the effects of widening a road, the imported parcels are not connected to the roads the way they would be if you manually created a polygon with streets. Is it possible to create road networks based on the accurate parcels? OR alternatively create the street network myself and attach them? See the attached photo..... in this example the roads are traced. If i were to change the width by adding new lanes there is no effect on the parcels. Thanks in advance, Devon

Hi everyone, This is the second post I have made on this subject.....I couldnt find the old post. Here is my script. Everything seems to be in order however when the clip function runs, it clips features by the window extent...however it produces and empty shape file. Any ideas? Thanks!
#DESCRIPTION:
#-clips Hydro and trapper features by data frame window extent
#-dissolves hyrdro layer to simplify line work
#-densify's both features to create more detailed line work
#-matches the trapper lines accordingly with the water features
#Import arcpy modules
import arcpy
#import operating system-level tools - usefull when working with paths
import os
#displays location of python script
home = os.getcwd()
#Declare Water feature variable
Hydro = "G:/Data/GIS/ArcGIS_Mapping/Hydrography.gdb/Watercourse_Poly"
#Provides access to map document
mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument("CURRENT")
#Directs output shapefile to specified folder
arcpy.env.workspace = "C:/Users/DJenkins/Desktop/Temp_Folder Apr2012 - Present/Python/Trapper Script/Output Shape"
#Allows data to be overwritten
arcpy.env.overwriteOutput = True
#Makes a copy of original Trapper Line Data
arcpy.CopyFeatures_management("LINE DATA & DISPOSITIONS/Trapper Lines","Trapper_copy")
df = arcpy.mapping.ListDataFrames(mxd,"Layers")[0]
extent = df.extent
array = arcpy.Array()
array.add(extent.lowerLeft)
array.add(extent.lowerRight)
array.add(extent.upperRight)
array.add(extent.upperLeft)
array.add(extent.lowerLeft)
poly = arcpy.Polygon(array)
#Clip Trapper feature by window extent
arcpy.Clip_analysis("Trapper_copy",poly,"Trapper_Extent")
#Clip Hydro feature by window extent
arcpy.Clip_analysis(Hydro,poly,"Hydro_extent")
#Dissolve Hydro_copy
arcpy.Dissolve_management("Hydro_extent","Hydro_Dissolve","FID")
#Find the number of features in the the trapper_extent & Hydro_copy
arcpy.GetCount_management("Trapper_Extent")
arcpy.GetCount_management("Hydro_Dissolve")
try:
#Add more points along trapper/Hydro features
arcpy.Densify_edit("Trapper_Extent", "DISTANCE", "25 meters")
arcpy.Densify_edit("Hydro_Dissolve", "DISTANCE", "25 meters")
#Snap the trapper points to match the Hydro features
arcpy.Snap_edit("Trapper_Extent", [["Hydro_Dissolve","EDGE", "250 meters"]])
except:
#Print the results
print arcpy.GetMessages(2)
else:

It looks like you are only inputting 4 points to create your polygon, you need 5 points to create a closed rectangle. Yeah that was just a typo when writing the code here.

Just using the code provided in the desktop python window. Then clipping a feature that's in my window of contents with the poly variable created. Thats it! import arcpy #mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument("CURRENT") df = arcpy.mapping.ListDataFrames(mxd,"Layers")[0] extent = df.extent array = arcpy.Array() array.add(extent.lowerLeft) array.add(extent.lowerRight)#array.add(extent.upperRight) array.add(extent.upperLeft) array.add(extent.lowerLeft) poly = arcpy.Polygon(array) arcpy.Clip_analysis('Trapper Lines',poly,"Trapper_Extent")

Coordinate systems are the same.... still generated an empty output. There is only one data frame.... it seems as if my data isn't in the same area as the clipper...which isn't the case but that's the error I'm getting using both syntax from above: "000117 Warning empty output generated: A common occurrence of this warning occurs when the Extent (or XYDomain) environment has been set previously for a geographically distinct area. Since the Extent environment is used to limit the features used, an inappropriately set Extent environment could exclude all features."

Hi everyone, I want to clip features based on my window extent. Right now I am creating a clip feature class polygon to match my view. instead of inputting "clip features" to clip, is there a syntax to input for the dataframe? thanks
