The editable layer is in my arcgis online map (added via Add >> Add Layer From File), not a feature service on a arcgis server (which I guess would be added by Add >> Add Layer From Web).

I have an ArcGIS.com personal account and a Nexus 7 with Collector. I can create maps in ArcGIS Online which contain editable layers and view them in Collector. But tapping the arrow to the right of the result window shows only options Show Details and Zoom To. Edit Feature and Delete are not available. Based on what I'm reading in this thread, these options are not available because I have only a personal account. Is this correct?

Thanks. I was actually using the correct link, I wrote arcgis-connect but actually used arcgis-collect. But in any case, my tablet has GMail, I'll try another mail app. Jim

I am having a variation of this problem. When I click on the link (created by "Link to this map" option within ArcGIS Online), a browser window opens (on my Nexus 7) and goes to ArcGIS Online and shows my map; but of course I want it to open in Collector, not a browser. Is there some setting I could check? I also tried the arcgis-connect: link method, but the arcgis-connect prefix is not included in the link, only the following www.arcgis.com/sharing/rest/content/items/myid/data Jim

I am attempting to come up the ArcGIS Android learning curve by developing a few simple applications which do only one particular task..In this case I am trying to have a map which will open at the users location. I looked at the Nearby sample, which works as is on my Nexus 7. I created another application using portions of the Nearby code but when the map opens, all I see is a grid. Here is the code I am using. public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); // Retrieve the map and initial extent from XML layout mMapView = (MapView)findViewById(R.id.map); /* create a @ArcGISTiledMapServiceLayer */ tileLayer = new ArcGISTiledMapServiceLayer( "http://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/World_Street_Map/MapServer"); // Add tiled layer to MapView mMapView.addLayer(tileLayer); //now i will try to add code to zoom to current location mMapView.setOnStatusChangedListener(new OnStatusChangedListener(){ private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; public void onStatusChanged(Object source, STATUS status){ if(source == mMapView && status==STATUS.INITIALIZED){ LocationService ls = mMapView.getLocationService(); ls.setAutoPan(false); ls.setLocationListener(new LocationListener(){ boolean locationChanged = false; public void onLocationChanged(Location loc){ if(!locationChanged){ locationChanged = true; double locx = loc.getLatitude(); double locy = loc.getLongitude(); Point wgspoint = new Point(locx, locy); Point mapPoint = (Point) GeometryEngine.project(wgspoint, SpatialReference.create(4326), mMapView.getSpatialReference()); Unit mapUnit = mMapView.getSpatialReference().getUnit(); double zoomWidth = Unit.convertUnits(SEARCH_RADIUS, Unit.create(LinearUnit.Code.MILE_US), mapUnit); Envelope zoomExtent = new Envelope(mapPoint, zoomWidth, zoomWidth); mMapView.setExtent(zoomExtent); } } public void onProviderDisabled(String arg0){ } public void onProviderEnabled(String arg0){ } public void onStatusChanged(String arg0, int arg1, Bundle arg2){ } }); ls.start(); } } }); } @Override protected void onPause() { super.onPause(); mMapView.pause(); } @Override protected void onResume() { super.onResume(); mMapView.unpause(); } } the main.xml file has: <com.esri.android.map.MapView android:id="@+id/map" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> </com.esri.android.map.MapView> What am I missing? Thanks.

The Google USB was installed. However, I am guessing that the first time Windows detected the device, it installed the driver it thought was appropriate (OEM?). I went into Windows device manager and updated the driver to the Google USB driver in C:...\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64\sdk\extras\google\usb_driver. Now it works. Thanks. How do I indicate issue resolved?

I am developing on Windows. I did install the Android API v2.3.3 from the Android SDK Manager, but I don't think the Google USB Driver is installed. I'll get an opportunity to try your suggestion this evening. After installing the USB driver and connecting my device, do I need to indicate to Eclipse where to search for the device? Thanks.

I am new to the ArcGIS SDK for Android and am having a problem when trying to run the samples. I am working on a field data collection project where photographs are stored in various folders. I want to be able to open a browse for folders dialog box so that I can select the folder (I just need to record the folder name into an attribute field). Is there a way to do this? Thanks. Jim Meuse

I also have an ArcGIS Mobile 10 application where I would like to attach more than one photograph. I tried adding two blob fields, "Picture_1" and "Picture_2" to the geodatabase. I can open up the ArcGIS Mobile 10 application and can browse for and add one photograph to each of the two blob fields, but the application crashes when I click the Finish button under Edit Attributes. I did note that the size of the MobileCache folder increases considerably. So...is it possible or not to add two or more photos?

I have a bit of experience with ArcPad and ArcSudio, but am new to ArcGIS Mobile. In ArcPad, a user in the field can click on a parcel and an edit form will appear which will allow the user to enter data for various attribute fields of the parcels layer. It is easy to design the form, data entry controls can be laid out logically, entries can be validated, ect. In the out-of-the-box ArcGIS Mobile application, a user can edit attributes by: Tasks >> Identify (then click a parcel) >> Edit Attributes, which brings up a list of attribute fields, any of which can be selected to edit their values. I note that a list of possible attribute values appears for fields where domains have been created. My question is: is it possible to create an ArcGIS Mobile application where a user clicks a parcel and an edit form appears where all of the data required to be updated is shown on a single form, as it is in ArcPad? (I do understand that in ArcGIS Mobile, edits are recorded to the Map Cache to be reconciled with the geodatabase later.) Background: using ArcGIS Mobile 10, applications to be deployed on two YUMA tablet PCs, field crews will be in two completely different locations. Thank you. James Meuse

I have also got similar messages in the past. Is the DBF file read-only? You should not have to do anything fancy here. Jim

I am doing exactly the same thing, the code is identical to yours with the exception of theRS.MoveNext line; I simply add the new record. Try commenting out line 24. Jim

In previous ArcPad projects, I was able to open a common dialog box to allow the user to browse for files by using the following code: Set objOpenDialog = CreateObject("UserAccounts.CommonDialog") This still works on my office PC with Windows XP, but our field computer has Windows 7 and I have been unable to find an equivalent statement which will allow the user to browse for files. I also tried: objOpenDialog = CreateObject("MSComDlg.CommonDialog") which worked in neither Windows XP or Windows 7. Does anyone know a solution to this problem? Thanks Jim Meuse
