Greetings, Kindly note the following specifications of the products I`m using:

ArcMap 9.3 MS Access 2007

I have 3 layers in my mxd (ArcMap93) that read their sources from a Personal Geodatabase (access2007). Later on, I set a password to this PGDB for security issues. Then when I opened the ArcMap, I found that the layers missed their datasources. I tried to set their datasources from that PGDB but I couldn`t connect to it and the following pop-up message shown: "Failed to connect to database. The user and/or password is invalid. Not a valid password." Is there a way to set a layer datasource in ArcMap to a PGDB that is encrypted with a password? Thanks in advance for any try to help or advise....

Greetings, I wonder if there is a way to do the following: I have created a template in ArcMap 9.3 Then I added an object to it and I chose "Create from File" option Then I browsed to an excel 2007 file that contains my data as a table and added it to the template Now when I update the data on that excel file, the data on the table of the template is not updated directly And to update it, I should double click that table to open the linked excel and then close that excel, and then the table on the template is updated Is there any way to do that using Vb.net code because I can update the content of that excel file but the problem is how to reflect this update directly on that template object (table). I have tried to refresh the active view but still the template object (table) is not reading the updates from the excel file. Please advise becuase it is very urgent.. Help me~!

Thank you very much Mr. Hornbydd, I was thinking of changing the zoom scale so when I zoom to a selected feature then it zoom to the location of that selected feature but with a specific scale. However, what you have posted about changing the map scale is another workaround and it helped me a lot.. Again thank you man...

Thank you Mr. Hornbydd for your interest on this post, Well, I`m already using this function "ZoomToAllSelectedFeatures" but I want to change the scale of the zoom if possible. Or I think I can change the scale of the extent after I call that function but through vb.net code. Again if this is possible, please advise? Thanks guys...

Greetings, I wonder if there is any way to set the scale of the "Zoom to selected Feature" functionality through Vb.Net code? But if this is can not be done. Could I zoom to the selected feature then set the scale to the value I want similar to what we can do in ArcMap 9.3(Zoom to selected then enter the value of the scale in the scale text found on the Standard Toolbar). Is this possible? How? Please advise...

Greetings, I have implemented a custom code that adds a toolbar containing commands to the ArcMap 9.3. I used the "IToolBarDef" Interface and I added "Icommands" on this toolbar. And I have used many global variable to hold the paths of my database, layers, ... etc I have these database, layers,...etc folders in my desktop. But after I close the ArcMap and try to move/remove or rename these folder, the windows pop a message saying that these folders are in use and can`t be edited. So, the ArcMap / My Custom code is still preserving the link to these folders even after I close the ArcMap. The workaround I used is to restart the windows. I hope someone will help me how to solve this without restarting my pc every time I want to edit those folders because it is been a critical situation to me. Thanks all...

Hello Kaspatoo, I think you misunderstood my questions below, but it was a nice consideration from you. Please note the following scenario in order to be more clear with my questions: I have four layers loaded in ArcMap 9.3 and the 3rd one called "X" I generated a form that contain a datagridview in order to preview the details of the selected X feature when a user click on the map. (same functionality as Identify tool) I want to get the "OBJECT ID" of the X feature that lies under the xy of the mouse click (polygon feature that covers the location of the mouse click) in order to query the details of the this X feature from my personal datatable and not from the layer in arcmap. I think it is possible to get the "Object Id" of the feature located under the mouse click. Isn`t it? The second think is that: I want to flash the selected feature in ArcMap programmtically, So how would be the code to do that? Please help...

Greetings, I hope to find a solution to the following questions that I really need in my project: How to find the feature under the mouse click (XY Coodinates) from a feature layer in ArcMap 9.3? How to highlight (flash) a selected feature in ArcMap 9.3 using VB.Net? Please advise....

Dear Mr. AkhilP.. I was informed that the only way to provide Routing Capability on a Mobile Application using ArcGIS Mobile is to be connected to ArcGIS Server. This is because we need Network Analyst Extension that is not supported in Arcgis Mobile even if we have network dataset cached in the Mobile Device. But the only way to perform Routing task is to process the analysis on the Server and parse the result to the Arcgis Mobile through online ArcGIS Service. Is the preceding Info true, or is there any sample code that we can use to perform Routing tasks on ArcGIS mobile that is not connected to the server. I`m aware that we can use ArcGIS Engine API to do this, but we need to have a Network Analyst Extension and ArcGIS Engine license on each Mobile Device. Please advise how to accomplish this task...

Greetings, I`m using a custom mobile application in a Mobile Device with GPS System and trying to create a route from a start point to end point. This job is accomplished whenever the mobile device is connected with the ArcGIS server that contains the ArcGIS Mobile Service and the Network Analyst Extension. Is there any way (even if custom code is required) to create this route while my mobile device is not connected with the ArcGIS Server in the main office? Any idea is welcome and will be very appreciated... Thank you in advance.
