Your problem can be due to versioning? I personally do not Register as Versioned for my feature classes/feature datasets. All I did was set Global IDs. Which I know you did. Are you able to look at the featureclass and see what's going on? Hope this sheds some light.

I partially agree, a TOC would be nice, but I wouldn't want it on the main map, it would consume too much real estate. A separate form can be displayed for the TOC. I have personally thought about programming my own TOC, but so far my clients don't really need it.

Ok lets assume it is synchronizing. Did you refresh the page? Try zooming around? Can you check the featureclass/featuredataset to see the new records? Can you check anything else other than ArcGIS Mobile for the new records? Have your tried using another computer that is using the same service in ArcGIS Mobile to download the data. For example Computer 1 creates a point. It syncs to AGOL, but you don't see it in AGOL. Use Computer 2 to sync and download the single point, do you see the point on the Computer 2? Hope this helps.

Your example is a bit confusing. Here's how my application works and yes I did code everything. I do not use AGOL, instead my data is synchronized to my GIS Servers. 1. Tablet in the field collects a point. 2. Point is instantly synchronized to the server. 3. Server sends acknowledgement. Note: This is an upload only synchronization, I can change the synchronization setting to allow points that were edited in ArcMap on the server to asynchronization. If another tablet in the field collects a point and synchronizes it to the server both tablets won't see each others' point. But the server will see both points. This is purposely done in my code using the upload only object. I used to allow asynchronization, meaning both tablets will see each others' points, but this caused a lot of lag when the number of features in the featureclass goes over 1000. You can manually click on synchronization in your application and hopefully you will see the changes you want.

There should be other posts online from ESRI on how to setup the SDK to work with VS2010. I personally just use VS2008 and all of the objects and controls are there. There is a procedure to get the controls to appear in VS2010, if you find it and you get it to work, please post the solution. I may do this myself, but my goal is in 2014, not this year. Cheers.

I am using a Panasonic CF-U1 Toughbook, running Windows 7 and I am also experiencing a lot of lag. The CPU is also an Atom and I believe it is too slow for ArcGIS Mobile. I might just create my own desktop application using WinForms instead. Although I am still using 10.0 build 2550.

AlBowe is correct, his idea will give you the result you are looking for. The mobilecache cannot contain regular tables, it is not supported yet.

Just a guess, maybe you have already tried this but put the port number beside the <machine>? http://<machine><port>/arcgis/services/<mapservice>/MapServer/MobileServer?wsdl I personally am still using 10.0, so I have not gone through these types of problems.

You CAN use your cache as basemaps for Mobile....We are doing that (but only in up to 25x30km if Ortho 10/20 cm resolution, otherwise it's very big for a tablet or Juno) So our "server guy" makes the cache on the same way as for the ImageServer but for smaller areas. As GEOSTUV03 mentioned above, one way is to make a cache of smaller geographic tiles and load them into each of your devices. This is what I do for local basemaps for collecting data at random places like, hotels, parking lots, shopping malls, etc. However as AMgmoeller54 mentioned, we may be able to consume the image service directly from our ArcGIS server. I have personally not tried this yet, but here's how I would attempt it. 1. Create an image service on the ArcGIS server. 2. Create an map document and place the service into the map document. 3. Publish the map document as a service. 4. Open Project Center and point to the service of the map document. 5. Load the project onto your devices and see if it works. Alternatively you can try to just open Project Center and find the image service on your ArcGIS server. Then on your computer/devices you will need to ensure you have internet/network connection to your ArcGIS server so you can stream/download the tiles. Once again, I have not tried this yet, so I don't know for sure. If you do manage to get something to work, please post back any details. Regards, Akhil P.

Hi Ross, I have had the exact same issue as you, people would have to stand still while gps averaging was occurring and then put in the attributes. I did customize the workflow to have the averaging to occur in the background while the user can enter in data. There are a couple issues that I should note first. 1. I am currently still on ArcGIS 10.0 and so I am not using the latest ArcGIS Mobile. 2. I am using ArcGIS for Windows Mobile WPF (tablets and laptops), not for Windows Mobile. 3. The newer ArcGIS Mobile SDK appears to no longer have the gps averaging object, instead it looks like it was replaced with Single-Shot. I have not found much information or worked with this new object because I am still int 10.0, and I will be moving to 10.1 in the coming months. 4. I found that gps averaging for my use cases to be problematic, because my users are not going still for more than 3 seconds. I have done some research and gps averaging appears to be only effective if you are stationary for 2 to 20 mins. I used to have my users average for 10 seconds, then I slowly decreased the number of averages to 0 or 1 because the averaging caused more problems than solved. 5. This is something you may already know, but ArcPad is generally geared to users who know GIS, whereas ArcGIS Mobile can be tailored to users who don't know GIS. It appears your users may be GIS personnel, meaning ArcGIS Mobile may not be required for your needs? But I can't make this decision for you. My users are not GIS personnel, so I have customized the WPF application for their needs. 6. My customized workflow are extremely fast and allows users to collect data within 1 - 4 seconds in an automated format. If the user has to do manual entry on some fields, this is possible and data collection can take up to 1 minute depending on how much info that user wants to enter. 7. In the newer version of ArcGIS Mobile WPF, there appears to be a button for collecting the location of the feature in the attributes form. Meaning without any customization you can actually get the geometry while users can be filling in other data. 8. If you were to continue with ArcGIS Mobile then I do suggest programming your own customized workflows that will better suit your users. This can take a lot of time to develop. I hope this helps. Regards, Akhil P.

I am in the same boat, I don't exactly know what Single-Shot means in terms ArcGIS Mobile. I have also searched for documentation or even code samples but I haven't found anything. Once I switch to the new SDK, I'm sure there may be an example or I could figure it out.

I personally am using ArcGIS Mobile 10.0 and I am using the GPSAveragingTool, but in 10.1 things have changed. Here's a link http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/windows-mobile/3.0/index.html#//007v00000024000000 Here's the quote: Use a single-shot GPS location (a replacement of the GPS averaging method) to capture a point. I hope this helps.

Just to add to entombedtrader, I normally create the featureclasses and MXD, then the service and then I never touch the featureclasses and MXD ever again. The service can be started, stopped without problems, I can't remember if you can delete the service and recreate and still be able to synchronize without problems. But yes the checksum is related to the featureclass and making sure it is not altered after you create is crucial for the synchronization process.

When I started using ArcGIS Mobile, I had similar issues, and I am only doing Point layers (no lines or polygons). I suggest you set a default values for your domains and subtypes. Try to use or avoid nulls for domain fields. Or I would create simple operational polygon layer with the same number of fields but set a default value in each field or set a value in each field of the new record. I am still using ArcGIS Mobile 10.0, so there could be differences, but this is where I would start. Please post back on what you tried and if anything worked. Thanks, Akhil P.

We installed FRANSON GPS GATE on our Tablet and it could locate our GPS and ArcMobile can then collect the GPS stream. If we disable the FRANSON GPS software ArcMobile can't locate the GPS. I have two GPS devices that I use. The Trimble ProXH, and I use GPS Controller to configure NMEA output and a serial to USB converter with prolific drivers. I have no problem getting NMEA strings in ArcGIS Mobile. Then we bought Garmin Montana 650 GPS Navigation systems, they look like a large smart phone and I also use FRANSON GPS GATE, and I believe we installed the Garming USB drivers beforehand. Overall, the Garmin Montana was superior to the Trimble ProXH in both urban and rural tests. The ProXH will not work in urban areas causing ArcGIS Mobile to constantly throw an error, saying "Would you like to reconnect", whereas the Garmin can guestimate your location in urban areas and will allow ArcGIS Mobile to continue to collect data. I wish I knew all of this when I first started building with ArcGIS Mobile, because I have spent countless months on trying to figure out GPS/NMEA problems with the Trimble ProXH. Now that we have switched to the Garmin Montana series, my work-life is a lot easier. I hope this helps others!
