Mark, Access to relate data has been around for some time with this widget: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=4ec33120c9ea4d019fddf722fc34ea3c and now in 2.5 the Enhanced Search support relates: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=5d4995ccdb99429185dfd8d8fb2a513e Thanks Robert. I've tried your widget and it works great. My only 'complaint' (and I think we've had this conversation before) is that it only works for feature layers so I either have to convert all my map layers to feature layers (which has its own repercussions) or I have some layers that are identifiable by just clicking on them and others that require the Identify widget.

Bjorn, Great work on the new release. I don't want this to sound ungrateful or like a complaint but I'm curious about future enhancements and what we can expect from the next Flex Viewer(s). Specifically, are there plans to add: - The ability for end-users to add local data like shapefiles (I saw that the new ArcGIS Online portal has drag and drop functionality) - Access to data stored in related tables/featureclasses (I've brought this one up before - having a ArcMap like Identify capability is hugely important to our organization) Thanks again. Mark

Mark, I hear you and if time permits I will look into it. Hi Robert, Just wondering if you have any insight about whether a tool like this is in the works from the Flex team (or if you've had time to develop one). I just downloaded the new viewer, 2.4, but once again related features don't seem to be on the Flex Team's radar. The new popup windows for dynamic and tiled layers is nice but it doesn't come close to replicating the functionality of your Identify widget (highlight Identified features, drill-down) and so I'm still stuck at the same crossroads - clickable features vs. Identify tool. Thanks, Mark

Yup, that's exactly what I did too. Can anyone shine some light on why AMF can be problematic for some users?

No they're not. Do I have to add every user who is going to access the service to agsuser? It's not a protected service so it would be nearly impossible for me to anticipate who is going to access it. I switched the format of the response to JSON instead of AMF and now it's working without a hitch for those folks who were having issues.

Is there anything new in the 2.3.x version of the viewer that makes this any easier to implement?

Hello, I've customized a Flex Viewer so that I can pass it parameters on the URL to query a mapservice layer with a particular feature id and then zoom the map to the found feature. A few end users are getting the following error message with they launch the viewer with these URL parameters: RPC Fault faultstring="Error #2032" faultcode="null" faultDetail="null" I traced the browser activity with Fiddler and noticed that when the viewer sends a query request to the map service the response is a request for client credentials. When I (and many of my colleagues) run the viewer we don't encounter this problem and the response is successful. The URL looks like this: /ArcGIS/rest/services/MyServiceName/MapServer/0/query?f=amf&returnGeometry=true&where=ID%3D5818&spatialRel=esriSpatialRelIntersects I'm using ArcGIS Server 10. I'm currently asking the effected users to try a version of the viewer that I have changed the requested format from AMF to JSON. I'm waiting to hear what the results are. Any ideas about what is going on? Thanks Mark

I saw that the new release of the viewer includes a new Layer tag that allows you to overwrite the WKID sent to a WMS server. Does this mean you can add a WMS layer to a viewer that is using a projection NOT supported by the WMS service? I'm trying to add the NRCan Toporama service to my viewer (which is using wkid 102100) but nothing is showing up in when I examine the response from the server in Fiddler I get an unsupported SRS message. The Toporama service does not support Web Mercator (102100). Maybe I don't understand but the change at 2.3.1 made it sound like I could force the wms to use the viewers wkid. Here is the tag I'm using: <layer label="NRCan" type="wms" visiblelayers="hypsography" url="http://wms.ess-ws.nrcan.gc.ca/wms/toporama_en" wkid="102100" skipgetcapabilities="true" version="1.1.1"/>

Robert, For a few weeks now I've been seeing some odd behavior when I mouse over the results in the Identify widget. 75% of the time the blue shading and pop-up are bang-on over the feature but from time to time (and with no discernable pattern) the hover effects and pop-up don't show up and when I click to zoom I get sent to the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa! With the help of Fiddler today I finally see what is happening. My operational data is mostly in GCS_North_American_1983_CSRS (4617), with one layer in GCS_WGS_1984 (4326). I'm using Bing maps as my base map. Using Fiddler I took a look at the JSON response I was getting back when the hover-effects worked - geometry is getting returned in 102100 Web Mercator. When the hover-effects "fail" the geometry is getting returned in it's native coordinate system (4326 or 4617). I've attached the two replies if it helps. Do you know why this would happen... and why it doesn't happen with any kind of regularity? Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing? Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated - this problem has been driving me out of my mind  Mark

Thanks for the info Bjorn. That's great news about 2.3. Two questions: 1. When will 2.3 be released? 2. Will the pop-ups for dynamic layers support querying related features? I guess what I'm hoping for is similar behavior to what is offered in ArcMap when I use the Identify tool - layer attributes and list of related info. Robert's enhanced Identify tool is fantastic and has most of what I want (highlights the feature when I mouse-over the record, zoom-to when I click) but showing related records would be icing on the cake. Thanks for listening. Mark
