Yes, I just tried again. Uninstalling and then reinstalling the Web Adaptor. The Web Adaptor is 10.1 SP1. I think the ArcGIS Server is also. The software authorization page shows the software version as 10.1.1. Can you navigate to this endpoint: http://<arcgisserver>:6080/arcgis/rest/info Can you tell me what it says in current version and full version please? Thanks- Justin

Tim, Can you also give a netstat -ao (I think that is the unix command). We need to ensure that nothing is listening on the ports listed in this web help: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//015400000537000000

Hello again, hmm.. I still think this is a ulimit issue. I have seen some forums state that limits set in the .kshrc file prevent them from properly setting the ulimits in the limits.conf. Can you remove any ulimits in the .kshrc file and see if there is any difference. The forums I found were actually referring to Oracle settings, but I think the fix might apply in this case. Thank you very much- Justin

Hello, To answer your question about high availability: If you install servers in the same cluster, you achieve failover. Services in the same cluster will failover to any other machine in the cluster. Services will not failover to a machine in another cluster though. If you install a machine in a new cluster, you achieve resource (RAM/CPU) load balancing. This is a manual process, as you must migrate or publish your services specifically in the cluster you want, but it will ensure that the load is distributed. Here is some more information on clustering: About GIS server clusters http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//015400000418000000 Thanks- Justin

Hello This is impossible as only one install can connect to one Site (config-store/directories). For any suggestions or improvements, please ensure you submit your ideas to ideas.arcgis.com. Thank you very much- Justin

Hello, Do you have a requirement to use a signed cert on your ArcGIS for Server? If you do then please generate the CSR and simply import the cert using the steps here: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//0154000005wr000000 If you do not have this type of requirement, please try these steps: 1. Turn on https on your arcgis for server, and use the selfsigned cert 2. In IIS, turn on bind https on a website using a signed cert (possibly one from Go Daddy as described) 3. Install Web Adaptor for IIS 4. Register your web adaptor (if web adaptor was installed, please re-register it after enabling IIS) Then simply instruct your users to use the URL of your web adaptor. They will never be prompted this way as they will only reference the signed cert in IIS. Thank you very much-

Hello, Are you able to get to your server via port 6080 from you web server in a browser? Also, I have a Windows Java install, and I cannot find web_adaptor.properties. Do you know the general path to this file? Thanks- Justin

Hello I was wondering if your handles and procs were set: To increase the soft and hard limits, you'll need to edit the /etc/security/limits.conf file with superuser access. For example, you can add four lines like this in the file: <ArcGIS Server installation user> soft nofile 65535 <ArcGIS Server installation user> hard nofile 65535 <ArcGIS Server installation user> soft nproc 25059 <ArcGIS Server installation user> hard nproc 25059 Thanks- Justin

Hello Everyone, Please allow me to chime in for a moment. We are dealing with two accounts here: 1. The Primary Site Administrator Account (PSA) 2. The Windows Service Account (WSA) PSA The PSA is a Non Windows account. It is not local to the windows machine, nor the Domain. This account is local to the ArcGIS Server itself, and only exists in ArcGIS for Server. WSA This is an Account that runs the ArcGIS Server Service, and can be either a local or domain account. What it sounds like you did was reset the PSA Account, then you rebooted the ArcGIS Server Service. Resetting the PSA Account should have no bearing on the WSA running the ArcGIS Server Service. What happens when you reboot a service is the WSA running the account is 'relogged in' or at least the credentials are repassed. It is possible that the account had a password flag on it for resetting it, or the password was changed somewhere, and the credentials on the ArcGIS Server Service were never updated. Restarting the service could simply bring issues like this to the surface. Were you able to correct your issue? Thank you very much-

Hello, The logs you provided are the wrong logs. Can you upload the ArcGIS Server logs? You can find the location under Server Manager/Logs. From the fiddler log, it looks like ArcGIS is receiving an encrypted value as the username, and it doesn't know what to do with it. I see that Tom sent the "required signing" in an earlier post, does that apply to you? Do you know why the username is being sent encrypted? I think that may be the issue. Thanks- Justin

Hello, VPNs often have their own firewall rules. Here are the ports that must be opened for ArcGIS for Server: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//015400000537000000 Ensure you speak with your Network Admin and have these appropriate rules set. Thanks- Justin Rodriguez
