Ed, When you say "users view this map in ArcGIS Collector or Field Maps (I've only tested on Android, in my case I'm running it on a Samsung S10+)" does that mean the same thing is happening on other devices? Or has it only been observed on your device so far? I just did a test of making copies of the same hosted feature layer and applying various filters to each and then viewing them in Collector (my device is a SamsungS9 - Andrioid Version 10) and didn't experience that behavior. Maybe you found a bug!?

We have some situations where we would like to collect some field data for a project, but that project was created by our survey department using a local coordinate system. So working off a grid that starts at 5000,5000. The software that we use for the Leica GG04 unit, Zeno Connect, allows us to apply a datum transformation, based off the x,y,z translation / rotations, in order to get the GPS unit adjusted to the system we want. My question is, is there a way to configure Collector to honor the datum transformation that is being performed within the GPS unit? What needs to be changed within the location profile in order for this to work? Or is this even possible? Does anyone have any experience working with a situation like this?

I have a service layer that is used in ESRI's Collector App to get points in the field, using a GPS unit, for updating our As-Built drawings. Normally I grab these points and export them as a .csv and insert them into AutoCAD in order for the operator to update the drawings. This allows the points to be displayed as topo points, with a description and xyz info. Very helpful! With the ArcGIS for AutoCAD 400 plugin you can add the REST endpoint for the services using the "Add Data by URL" option within the ArcGIS tab within AutoCAD. After doing this is there anyway to have attributes displayed aside from using the "ESRI Identify" option? This would save me a ton of time and make it much more "real-time" from field to office in many cases and increase the efficiency in which we can create As-built drawings. I would love to be able to display attribute information like I'm able to when I insert the points as topo points using a .csv file.

You might even want to try a simple regenerate command, "rea" I believe, and see if that fixes it? If you haven't already. Sometimes when I bring services I've published with ArcServer into CAD using that plugin I have to do that to get the features to scale properly after I've changed my extents in the map. Not sure why but it seems to be necessary sometimes.

As long as you've set the coordinate system of your base map through the ArcGIS tab of the plugin, as below, then I would try a simple "REA" or Regenall command to have your CAD layers re scale. I would also make sure your CAD layer(s) isn't set to some architectural scale that's causing it to be so out of proportion to the base map.

Paul, How did this setup work for your production environment? I'm currently looking at doing the same and was curious if it works well with the installs of ArcServer and Portal being on the same machine?

Derek, In regards to the installation of ArcServer and Portal for ArcGIS being installed on the same machine, would I need to make 8 cores available in this instance or just 4? I know that ArcServer uses 4 cores and that Portal uses 4 cores so when being installed and run on a single machine does that mean the machine needs to be configured with 4 cores or 8 cores for optimal throughput? Also, I know you said that this configuration (Server and Portal installed on the same machine) should be fine for his development environment but what about for a production environment? Would this configuration be fine for that as well?

I have really come to love Pro and it's project-centric approach though but I'm just left dumbfounded when I come across some functionality being left out like that. From what I read in one of Ted's threads and the discussion he was having about the access database reading ability being left out, it seems ESRI is taking the approach of telling us what we need and don't need and that seems like a dangerous precedent to set. When you participate in the ESRI feedback option when installing ArcMap or Pro, they should really keep a log of what features that user is using the most to be shared back so they can better understand their audience. Sure it's not that simple, but would be awesome if they could!

Yes, that feels like a huge oversight to not include that ability in Pro! I keep coming across issues like that the more I use Pro and am always shocked. I can't believe they also took the ability to search and replace in an attribute table away as well!! Are you kidding me, how was that something they looked at and thought it would be ok to remove? I wonder what the reasoning was there? Maybe lack of communication with the user community?
