We have a customer who has an oracle back-end for their data and we have a SQL back-end. Our customer would like to temporarily join their tables to ours and then define their symbology based upon some attributes in our table. They do not want any of our data to go into their oracle system or become a field in the graphics. They simply want to base the symbology off of a table that is not used for generating graphics. My background is using the API, not anything on the desktop side or of publishing, so pardon me if I am not mis-understanding or over-simplifying anything.

I am trying to create a basic Google Dart example from the Home Button example using the guide on using javascript in Dart. The part I am running into issue with is the require aspect of the javascript example. Does anyone have an ESRI Dart example that I could use as a reference?

I ended up converting the points to a new spatial reference that uses meters WKID reference: http://resources.esri.com/help/9.3/arcgisserver/apis/javascript/arcgis/help/jshelp/pcs.htm helpful thread on how to convert: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/74058-Change-Coordinates-for-Offline-Map?highlight=convert+spatial+reference

Hi Phil, Thanks for sharing the code, it was indeed very helpful :)!! I got my code working to a point where I can cluster according to an attribute of the graphic. The problem I am facing however is that I am not able to control the Zoom level. I tried to play with the range property (Increasing the range) and that helps but I am not sure this is the right way to do it. Can you help me on this. I am trying to give user different views of data at different Zoom levels using cluster. So at minimum Zoom and -> On block appears (which clusters all the graphics of same type). In between -> I want the block to appear (only the information I am displaying on the block increases) Maximum Zoom I want to make visible all the graphics. It's been a little while since I have worked with the API, but there is an event that gets fired when the zoom level changes (I'm sure you can find info on it in the forums somewhere), add an event listener to this event and then depending on the zoom level, configure how you want the cluster to work. Keep in mind that there is no turn on/off clusterer, you either set the clusterer or you don't set it at all or set it to null. Goodluck!

I really wish ESRI would mention this in the requirements or readme somewhere

This thread has some good stuff in it:
http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/20903-Export-map-to-png
but from what I quickly googled, the biggest issue with thsi seem sot be that in silverlight you can't get a screendump of something that is not in the same domain as the xap you are using.

A user reported the same issue I am having now: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/62927-Custom-Flare-Clusterer-and-MapTip-Issue The issue, in short, is that if you implement Graphic OnCreateGraphic(GraphicCollection cluster, MapPoint point, int maxClusterCount) as part fo a custom FlareClusterer and I try to return the first graphic cluster[0], the maptip will nto show for that particular graphic or any other singular graphic I return. Only when I return a flare-cluster will the map-tips appear properly. Unfortunately, the suggested work-around will not work for me, as the graphics that I am filtering out can only be determined when they are put into a cluster. Is this a bug? Is there a way around this?

For that particular example try remove the maptip section, though that would get rid of it entirely.

I don't know for sure, but I don't think that the maptips are really generated on the fly. Keep in mind that (USUALLY) you bind the data in the xaml. So I assume (always dangerous to do so) that the actual generation is done under the hood, and it's not possible to tie a query to the maptip. I think your best would be to dynamically create a maptip for each graphic. Unfortunately this means having to loop through each and every graphic that will have a maptip and assign the maptip value to the result of the specified query. This also means that you have to run the query for each graphic.

Can we know the names of countries that are in the polygon selection? Are you referring to a specific example of code? if so please reference the code. But usually when you do a selection you should have access to the selected graphics. You'd have to loop through the selected graphics and get the associated Country names. Hope this helps. If you reference the code you are referring to, I'd be happy to give you a more specific answer.

ESRI Time. -1 Anchorage time. Why on earth would they do that though? Maybe it'd make sense if they have the servers there, but that makes even less sense, if not simply for bandwidth cost.

I know really off-topic but has anyone else noticed that the time on the forum is EST - 4. I'm not even familiar with any one that uses that as a time zone? Is it based in California and they just never updated their clocks for daylight savings?
