I am not sure but I would suspect the order that you created the labels and grid lines might have something to do with it. Did you label first or last? I created the grid lines first.

I recently created a map with a UTM grid. Unfortunately, the grid lines appear over the top of several labels in my map (See example). Is there anyway to fix this and have the labels on top of the grid lines instead? [ATTACH=CONFIG]30060[/ATTACH]

I was able to complete the task using the attribute editing window, but I could not get the Field Calculator method to work correctly. I kept getting error messages. Thanks for the assistance.

Is there a particular field calculator function I need to use? Should I use VB Script or Python? I can't seem to get it to work.

Is there a quick way to assign the same attribute value to a group of selected features? Specifically, I have a text field that I want to add the value "yes" to without having to manually enter the value for each feature.

I have a data set that I downloaded from the national elevation data set (NED). The data is for a river meander reach. Is there a way that I can convert the raster data to polygons, consistent with the way in which I have symbolized the data in the attached example? The data is symbolized based on elevation ranges (z values) shown in the dialogue box. [ATTACH=CONFIG]23477[/ATTACH]

Are you talking about an actual declination compass rose like you'd see for nautical use? Basically this would like a circle within a circle... If you are talking about an actual north arrow, would something like this work for you? Does anyone know a simple way to create a compass rose with true and magnetic north? Just inserting a north arrow doesn't really do justice to map users.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. Projecting the data set from a geographic coordinate system to a projected coordinate system and using bilinear sampling solved the problem.
