Looks like a data type specific to SQL Server 2008. We are currently on 2005. I may be out of luck...

Does this exist? When referencing st_geometry in SQL Server I'm getting an Invalid object name 'sde.st_geometry'. I noticed in documentation that this is SQL syntax, but is the st_geometry only an Oracle command? Does something similar exist in SQL Server? I have a function I'm trying to build in silverlight to take my graphics layer and publish the geometry to a feature class and the way I thought I might be able to do this is to create a stored procedure in SQL Server to insert a record into the feature class table. The only way I've found to insert the geometry into the record is to use the st_geometry function... However it doesn't seem to be working.

Nevermind... I was able to get the api sample to work correctly. I needed to repair the assemblies and download the Reactive package from Microsoft. I seemed to get it working this way. I then added the SLContrib project to my site and added the code from the Contrib website. Worked perfectly... I just need to tweak it a bit to account for the differences in projections between the shapefiles we manage and the web mercator projection our web applications use.

Yeah, I too found that rectifying the Observable assemblies taking too much time. If you have some code to share, I'd love to see how you're uploading/writing shapefiles. My E-mail is: Erik.Engstrom@state.vt.us THANKS!

I have a VB script that calls the rest endpoints of my production services first thing in the morning. I put the script into a Scheduled Task to be called in the morning and again every 30 minutes. It works perfectly. If you'd like it, I can supply the code here. I got it from somewhere in the ESRI support forum land, so it may have already been linked here.

Keep in mind that the line: switch (graphic.Attributes["Shape"].ToString()) "Shape" is case sensitive. If you have a feature class that has the Shape field as "SHAPE" (all uppercase), you'll need to accommodate for that in your code, or else you will receive an error.

Dave, I was able to get it to work! I've made a few tweaks to your code, but for the most part, it works great! I'm still very new to Silverlight (and programming in general). These snippets that the user community provides makes things much more managable and has taught me greatly! This code is a perfect example of what should have been included from the beginning! THANKS AGAIN DAVE!

Thanks Dave, but how would I bind the TextValue to the IdentifyResults? I created the control and added it to my generic.xaml. I can see the stack panel in my mainpage.xaml. However I believe I need point the control to what is returned in my identify results and that's where I'm running into an issue now. As it is, I have a datagrid that binds the results of the IdentifyResults (Key/Value).
<ScrollViewer HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Hidden" VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Auto" Width="230" MinHeight="200" Grid.Row="1">
<sdk:DataGrid x:Name="IdentifyDetailsDataGrid" AutoGenerateColumns="False" HeadersVisibility="None" background="White">
<sdk:DataGrid.Columns>
<sdk:DataGridTextColumn Binding="{Binding Key}" FontWeight="Bold" />
<sdk:DataGridTextColumn Binding="{Binding Value}" />
</sdk:DataGrid.Columns>
</sdk:DataGrid>
</ScrollViewer>
public void ShowFeatures(List<IdentifyResult> results)
{
_dataItems = new List<DataItem>();
if (results != null && results.Count > 0)
{
IdentifyComboBox.Items.Clear();
foreach (IdentifyResult result in results)
{
Graphic feature = result.Feature;
string title = result.Value.ToString() + " (" + result.LayerName + ")";
_dataItems.Add(new DataItem()
{
Title = title,
Data = feature.Attributes
});
IdentifyComboBox.Items.Add(title);
}
IdentifyComboBox.SelectedIndex = 0;
}
} ShowFeatures(args.IdentifyResults);

I'm in this exact boat and I was going to pretty much ask the very same question, almost verbatim 🙂 This is why the deprecation of the .NET ADF bothers me. Creating an application using the ESRI templates in the ADF, this was extremely easy to do. Simply editing the template for each data layer was a matter of editing a little bit of HTML code. I have multiple map services, with multiple layers. Some of which include a hyperlink and some of those layers contain multiple fields with hyperlinks. What's even MORE frustrating, is that with Silverlight you can't even copy the text in the identify grid. Without a hyperlink, you'd be forced to write it down on paper. COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS!

I have a snippet that saves/opens graphics within a project, writing to a CSV. I have a TextSymbol in my map and would like to save these markup graphics that contain text/labels to the CSV as well, but I'm having a hard time retrieving the text of the TextSymbol. GraphicCollection pGC = graphicsLayer.Graphics;
foreach (Graphic g in pGc)
{
if (g.Geometry is ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Symbols.TextSymbol)
{
MapPoint pPoint = (MapPoint)g.Geometry;
pStreamWriter.WriteLine("TEST, " + pPoint.X.ToString() + ", " + pPoint.Y.ToString());
} In the WriteLine, I would like to add the text of the TextSymbol. Any ideas?

Dom, I am using a new project and re-downloaded your code. It must be the newer version. When building in my project, I'm getting two errors: The type or namespace name 'MapPages' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) I'm also getting this for 'MapUnit' in MapPrinter.cs Where do I specify these? My XAML code looks like this now: <ESRI_ArcGIS_Client_Samples_MapPrinting:MapPrinterDialog x:Name="printPreviewMap" HorizontalAlignment="Right" Margin="0,192,-28,0" Grid.Row="2" Style="{StaticResource PrintPreviewStyle}" VerticalAlignment="Top">
<ESRI_ArcGIS_Client_Samples_MapPrinting:MapPrinter x:Name="printMap" Map="{Binding ElementName=MyMap, Mode=OneWay}" Style="{StaticResource MapPrinterStyle}" PrintExtent="{Binding Extent.Extent, ElementName=MyMap, Mode=TwoWay}" Title="{StaticResource Title}" d:LayoutOverrides="Width"/>
</ESRI_ArcGIS_Client_Samples_MapPrinting:MapPrinterDialog> I have references to: MapPrintingControls.csproj System.Windows.Controls.Toolkit

I have been developing a web map viewer for our agency over the past few weeks to a month. I started with the showcase map template and have been adding to it ever since. I am not a programmer by trade, but know enough logic to get me by. Using the code within the interactive SDK, coupled with specific questions I've asked here, I've found nearly all of what I've needed. Not to say I haven't been frustrated with pesky bugs, but the support team has been a breath of fresh air. I was very nervous choosing the Silverlight platform over the Flex platform, because I initially thought that Flex got much more attention than Silverlight ever did. This may still be true, but I have been very pleased to see the presence of ESRI in many of the threads that I've looked into for ideas and answers to questions. Just my .02 😄

Set the LayerIDs property of the legend control. So for instance, you only want to display your baselayer in the legend: <esri:Map> <esri:ArcGISTiledMapServiceLayer ID="baseLayer" Url="..." /> </esri:Map> in legend: <esri:legend Map="{Binding ElementName=MyMap}" LayerItemsMode="Tree" LayerIDs="baseLayer" ShowOnlyVisibleLayers="True" /> To add layers to your legend, just separate them by a comma.
