If you are just wanting to show the values and "not store" them within the Hosted feature service then you might be able to use a note field that contains the concatenation of the depth and the value recorded. I thought I would be able to use the once() to count how many repeat records there were, but it is not functioning the way I thought. I have attached something that works, but we need to figure out how to prevent the note calculation from being reset once a new value has been entered.

Hello, You will need to sign into ArcGIS Online and complete the following - Find the Hosted Feature Service that was created when you posted the survey Use the one that is just the (hosted) and not (hosted, view) Go into the Hosted Feature Service Details page Click on the Data tab Then click on the appropriate item (feature class or related table/feature) within the Layer dialog on the left-hand side under the name of the hosted feature service Then click on the "Fields" button on the right-hand side under "Settings" Find the field/question that you updated the choices for and click on the name Then you will need to click on the edit button across from the "List of Values (Domain)" From here you can enter in the new choices. Cheers! Mike

It just might be one of the largest bumble bee surveys ever completed east of the Mississippi River with 23,000 images of habitat and bees. Lots of fun on this one. Good luck on your form and if you haven't thought about it, then you might want to look into joining the BETA testing group for Survey123. Survey123 for ArcGIS

Hey Jeff, Yes, that is how it should look and it will only complete the function once. Sorry the delayed response, but we are processing a lot of "bee" data we recorded using Survey123 for a rather large reporting effort. Our final download; which is mostly photos, is just over 8gigs.

I see what you are talking about now as I just tried this with one of my surveys. In this case you could probably just add in a text field that would contain the following as a calculation below. This question could be hidden and set to a "string" within the "bind::esri:fieldType". place this within the calculation of the field to preserve the local time format-date(${Date_Observed_Frozen},'%Y%m%d %H:%M') Might need to consider using the once() function if the form is opened multiple times to freeze the first time recorded. This is what happens within Survey123 Connect. This blog will help you with the formatting to your specs. https://community.esri.com/groups/survey123/blog/2016/04/17/dates-and-time-in-survey123-for-arcgis Cheers! Mike

If you are wanting to keep the question within your survey, then you might want to try the following, but please be very careful with this method. If there are values within the text field that cannot be converted into a number through field calculator, then plan on creating some "select by attribute" and then "calculate field" based on what the values they should be converted to. Within the ArcGIS Online GUI - Add a new numeric field named "Newfield1". Open ArcGIS Pro and add this Hosted Feature Service into a new map. Depending on the values found within the text field If you can complete a "calculate field" operation, because the values are all numbers, then proceed. If you cannot complete a "calculate field" operation, because of non-numeric values, then Complete a "select by attribute" to find the values that cannot be directly calculated Complete a "calculate field" and "adjust the value being applied" for these non-numeric answers. Make sure that you have the name of the field and alias pasted into a text editor; this is VERY important The idea is that you will use the name of the field and it's alias in the next few steps. Here's the scary moment in the process: AFTER doing a complete QA/QC on the new field column, "delete" the text field. Create a new numeric field and name it by "Copying and pasting" the name and alias of the fields into the appropriate tool variables, while setting it to the appropriate type of number field; short. long, double. Complete a calculate field of the "NewField1" into this new field representing the old text field that has been updated into a numeric field. Close ArcGIS Pro Open up Survey123 Connect Find the question that you just updated the field to numeric and scroll over to the far right until you find the "bind::esri:fieldType" and change this into the appropriate type of numeric field. Attempt to republish the survey and it should republish without any issues. This is another way to get the field into your survey and to replace the question at the same time. If for some reason you need to just "archive/retain" the question, then you can just add a new field within Survey123 connect, turn the "Type" from "text" to "hidden", and then add the new question to accept the new answers. However, you would have to calculate the answers from the numeric field into this new field as stated above. Cheers, Mike

Allen, There might be a way to control these "extra" records from happening. It depends on which version of the Survey 123 applications you are using for both "Survey123 Connect" and "Survey123 Field app". If you are using the most current version (release this summer), then give this a try. Within the "appearance" column of the "begin repeat" choose the option for "minimal". This should collapse the repeat and not create a record until the end user taps on the circle with a plus sign inside of it. I am using the BETA app version for Survey123, but I believe this is available within the latest release. Give it a try and see what happens. Good Luck! Mike
