Steve, I feel your pain. This actually became such an issue for my organization that we scrapped using Collector as it could not be relied upon. The method for the quick fix is tedious manually exporting, converting db format, merging and cleaning the parent db. The solution we came up with is to use iFormBuilder for our data collection needs paired along with the ArcGIS Online Connector function that inserts the data to AGOL. For me it happens when clicking on the item from within AGOL. The consistence of this bug is really odd. For example, this morning when I responded to you I was able to open the dashboard and use the item all morning within Chrome. Now this afternoon I cannot access it in Chrome but it still functions in any other browser.

It's an organizational dashboard so login credentials are needed to access. As mentioned, there are no problems in other browsers only Chrome. It's as if Chrome does not recognize that the user is already logged in nor will it except the proper login information once this error occurs. Here is the link

Since the latest ArcGIS Online Updates came through last week I am having issues accessing browser based operation views with Google Chrome. Is any one else experiencing this? It seems to be a new bug as I've never had this problem in the past. The issue is the view will either not load and refuse to except the user name and password or load the map/dashboard but eventually timeout and go to this screen. No problems in Firefox or IE.

Thanks Kelly! This resolved my issue. Very odd that ArcMap would not allow the sign in prompt to load until 1st logging in on Internet Explorer. Thanks for the tip!

If this is an issue related to syncing back to AGS feature services rather than hosted services I would also like to hear more about the "uploadreadaheadsize" setting in IIS. I have my ArcGIS Sever on IIS and am experiencing the occasional sync failure with offline collections too. The last time I had this issue the Python script helped (minus the "A row with this OID Already Esists" error requiring esri to step in). However, if this is truly an issue with AGS/IIS setup I'd like to nip this in the bud before I push the use of Collector to a broader scale within my organization. Look fwd to hearing more about your work around Robert.

Hi folks, I thought I'd weigh in. I also have field staff who have experienced the sync issue on an isolated device. I think this has to be related to large amounts of features being collected or editing before a sync. In my case the problem iPad was trying to sync about 118 new points with about 20 attribute fields. Other field collectors had successfully synced with no problem, but with about 1/2 the amount of features being synced. I agree with someone in a related post that this must be tied to timeout issues etc. Hopefully this can be resloved by esri in a later release. Regardless, I'm happy to report that the python script did work for me with one caveat. In line 8 of the code make sure it reads something like output_gdb = 'M:\Working_folder\PHL\\NEW.gdb' The key for me was ensuring that a 2nd "\" is inserted before the file geodatabase name. Other than that one piece of advice this worked seamlessly. Also an FYI I made communication with the ArcGIS Collector Dev. team a few weeks ago with some suggestions and they do plan on having a developed tool (likely in ArcToolbox) to retrieve data from tablets that refuses to sync in the future. Until then this script works great. Thanks Russell Roberts!

Can anyone who attended the ArcGIS Online: The Road Ahead session from the UC comment in on the section about "Improved Mapping"? Specifically I'm wanting to know when the dev team plans on rolling out clustering and heatmap options to AGOL for mapservices points. Mention of this can be seen in slide 9 in the presentation proceedings at http://proceedings.esri.com/library/userconf/proc14/tech-workshops/tw_744.pdf

Does anyone know if there is a way to use clustering for points with the web appbuilder? I'm looking for an output similar to that of how clustering can be accomplished with the .JS API or the Silverlight viewer. I thought this might be baked into AGOL somewhere but have not seen that as an option either.

new2jsapi could you tell me where exactly in the index.html you inserted the code snippet from https://developers.arcgis.com/javascript/jssamples/ags_createwebmapitem.html ? I'm having trouble getting this to work. I'm familiar with digging through this code but not an expert by any means. I've already replaced the webmap ID with "webmap: add(),"

I was running into this same issue myself. I'm running 10.1 SP1 and was able to successfully implement this workflow using an existing CA cert. The setup was extremely sensitive and would only work for me when done in the following sequence. 1)Install CA cert. on IIS 2)Enable https and http in AGS Admin. 3)Restart Server (this is key) 4)Log back into AGS Admin. Choose and save settings *again for the "self signed" cert. (the default one) 5)Run web adapter with the "https://xxxxx:6443/arcgis/admin" for admin dir. These items in this specific order were the only way I successfully implemented using SSL with an existing CA certificate while maintaining http & https access. It was a lot of trial and error to make this work. Hope this helps some of you out there.
