Hi all - I'm trying to create a simply per-configured query using the Query widget in the Web AppBuilder Dev. Edition 1.3. I simply want the user to choose an activity from a drop down list: And then immediately jump to the results list: By passing the Options window: Is this possible to do? I'd also like the user to only zoom to the location they choose from the results list and not have the popup appear. I see the popup in the config_query.json file in the application folder, but if I remove it the widget just hangs. Thanks in advance! Meg

My organization isn't interested in AGOL for hosting. So in the end we will have Portal and WAB DE installed both on Amazon and on our internal web server. Thanks for the input on the web map needing to be public though. I was making too many assumptions deployment was similar to Flex.

Hi Jianxia - If you are updating the documentation for WAB DE I think it would be helpful to note that wherever you deploy the application it still needs access to the web map. I was publishing my web map internally on Portal and thought after zipping up and downloading I could launch my app on a public facing server - that somehow zipping it up compiled everything together like Flex does.

Hi Robert - We have an internal site up and working behind our firewall using WAB Dev Edition and Portal for ArcGIS. We only use Portal to publish web maps. The Portal, per our IT department, will not be made available to the public. I need to move this site to our Amazon public server. When I deploy it in the wwwroot directory and set up a proxy etc, the application loads but can not find the web map since it was published internally and is not publically available. The web map is consuming services in the cloud it's just that the web map itself is stuck behind our firewall. Can you suggest a best practices option for developing behind the firewall but then deploying to a public server? Do I need to install Portal on the public machine to publish the web maps and if so, is it possible to have my local WAB Dev Edition connect to two Portals - one for public and one for internal production? As always, thanks for the input.

Thanks, Junshan. That's what I was fearing. Knowing I can not make our locally installed Portal publically available, it sounds like I need to install it on our Amazon public server and publish the web maps there. That said, would it be possible to connect my locally installed WAB Dev. Edition to the Amazon Portal as well as to the one that is behind our firewall? Basically have two machines being referenced by WAB dev edition in the same way that ArcGIS.com is available along with the local Portal install?

Hi Junshan - I'm not sure how to make the webmap reference in the WAB application on AWS "addressable" to the general public outside our organization since our Portal is installed locally. Is that possible to do? This is unchartered territory for me. I can't post the console log because I'm on our network so the application loads correctly! Here's the link: ArcGIS Web Application I'm assuming you'll see a green loading screen and the poof, nothing. Thanks so much for the response. I really appreciate the insight.

Hi all - Can someone help with the steps of deployment to an AWS Cloud environment? I'm following the steps I used to do when deploying a Flex site, but feel I'm missing something glaring and obvious re: web maps since my application seems to load briefly but blanks out on the map. Here are the steps I've taken: 1. Using Portal on a local machine I've created a web map the references services in the Cloud. This web map is shared with everyone. Our only use of Portal is to create web maps at this point. 2. Added this map to WAB DE, customized the site, and downloaded and deployed the application. It runs fine locally. 3. Configured the proxy file and copied the application to our AWS Cloud inetpub/wwwroot directory. 4. And then..., watched the loading screen fire up and then blank out with no map. My big question is do I need to install Portal to the AWS Cloud to make the web map available, or is it somehow embedded in the WAB application? I don't understand what's happening under the hood. Any insight? Many thanks, Meg

Eureka!! Robert - I can't thank you enough. What a great way to start the week. I got the icons to display and am starting to look at the code to get a better understanding of how it all works. Next up for me is getting the attachment images to display, but this thread has been invaluable as a starting place for me to learn from. If you know any sites/guides that specifically work with WAB customization please send them on. It will be a win-win as we all won't need to post so many questions. I'm thrilled this works. Thanks again++!

Hi Robert - I've added the 3 new functions and the new line of code to the MapManager.js in my server/apps/3/etc directory, and have changed out your virtual directory for mine. I fear I'm missing something elementary because on a map click, nothing appears. If I set popups to be enabled, I get the standard field attribute list so I know popups "work". The only thing I see is in the _setupParksPopup this: var boolTest = value.toLowerCase().indexOf('_no_') > 0 ? false : true; seems to reference "no" whereas my data is Y / N. Could this be something? I'm totally blind... Thanks++
