Hi, everyone and welcome to this week’s episode of Telecom GIS in 5 minutes. I’m Kyle Crawford and today I wanted to highlight the power of ArcGIS Velocity. ArcGIS Velocity is a real-time and big data capability for ArcGIS Online. It allows you to easily build real-time feeds and analytics which ingest data, analyze that data to get real-time and historical insights, trigger alerts as data comes in, and take action when necessary.  And there is no system architecture or engineering lift – it’s a hosted, managed SaaS that lets you get immediately to work with your real-time tracking or sensor data.

ArcGIS includes real-time and big data analytics that can help address these kinds of questions. You can build automated services to ingest, transform, and analyze data – taking action along the way.

Using ArcGIS Velocity, you can get started by creating feeds to consume different sources of real-time data. A feed enables you to connect ArcGIS directly to IoT systems like cloud platforms or messaging brokers. You connect to the data stream, configure the data model, and publish a continuous, cloud-hosted service that ingests data and lights up your maps with streaming information.

These scalable analytics enable you to detect incidents in real-time or over time, even with large volumes of data. You can put together real-time and big data analytics in minutes, without writing a single line of code. This analytic automates a process to evaluate these external forces against the network outages, based on proximity. Then, depending on the culprit, it automates different alerts and actions, like sending a notification to the nearest staff member that could be deployed to investigate. These analytics can run continuously, acting on each new message as it arrives, or be scheduled to run on a regular basis - this one runs every 5 minutes. Let’s look at some of the results.

As the nation integrates and connects more and more systems, agencies can be even better prepared to identify threats to facilities and personnel. The challenge is to uncover not just where issues arise but to analyze and fuse multiple sources of intelligence in real-time to rapidly identify probable culprits. With massively scalable real-time and big data analytics, ArcGIS enables you to apply the power of location to evaluate what’s happening around your assets and prioritize where to take action.

Thank you all for watching the TGI5 episode this week. I hope this was insightful and hope you now have a better understanding of the real-time and big data capabilities of ArcGIS Velocity.
