Tablet recommendations for disconnected field editing

Hi all,

I am looking for suggestions on tablets that have worked well for others out in the field. I would like to be able to perform edits to our concrete inspections without wifi or 4g data usage (completely disconnected), and would like to store all GIS data on the tablet itself. Our current method for concrete management inspections involves editing both a feature class and related work history tables, so I am thinking a tablet that is able to handle a full version ArcGIS desktop 10.1. This leads me to think I need a tablet with windows 7 or 8 (not windows 8 RT). The best method (I believe) would be to check out/check in our concrete data at the end of the day.

Of course, I would like a tablet with good battery life, somewhat rugged, and minimal outdoor glare with its display. Anyone out there have any suggestions? The Dell xps 12 Ultrabook intriques me, kind of heavy when folded into tablet "mode" though. Any idea if there is anything on Android or IOS that could handle disconnected edits, including not just shapefiles, but related tables as well. An app that someone has developed perhaps?

Love to hear anyone's suggestions on this.

Thanks!
