COSD GIS Enterprise Group,

FYI. There is a summit on UAS use in California in Sacramento this month. This UAS technology is about to explode in state and local government usage. It is all about the cost/savings. UAS are on average 66% to 98% less expensive to operate than traditional aircraft.

Respectfully,

Ross Paul Martin – County GIS Manager

Things I learned:

Don't use the same layer twice in the same map. If you need to use the same layer create another layer with a different name.

Apparently problems will happen, probably during sync data.

Because the county is so large, doing disconnect data at county level is difficult, esri recommended creating multiple maps, east, west, etc. You would do this with same services.

Big thing I learned was attachments bog down and can cause problems, more so during the loading or reloading an updated service.

I haven't had much success with routing, see that esri created a navigation app you would run at the same time or multiple programs running at the same time. You have to have WiFi, so disconnected editing and navigation didn't make a lot of sense.

Templates quicker than publishing from arcmap.

Sideload limit for baseman 100k limit

10.3 server don't have every layer editable

Sync check server debug

Iis size up to 20

Recovery tool in desktop copy runtime geodatabase to gdb

Definition filters do not work.

Related tables look useful, make sure you use guid.

Last thing I realized is I would add an imagery service to the map and turn on/off when i needed. I was essential downloading two basemaps, probably fine for desktop agol but not downloading for collector.

Not gis, but parking structure on sixth across from omni hotel is $1 per hour, if you can't take public transit.

Forwarded on from Randy Yakos at the ESRI 2015 pre-conference. Earthmine was and is a very cool technology. Like google street view, except you can place an object oblique view 3d which ends up in ArcGIS GIS database, images are back by a LIDAR model.

HERE bought out earthmine, who drove all of county roads a while back, anyways they have a really cool interface using camera and lidar interfaced with Archos online. Showed them our sidewalk data and they were pretty excited about how there work could be used with our data. Really slick at measuring and editing and places 3d points to snapping to 2d.
