Two issues with Imagery basemap on page 24

Hi,

I'm using ArcMap 10.0 (Build 2414), ArcEditor edition which came with my EDN license.

Following instructions on page 24, I add the Imagery basemap, but instead of being added to the Table of Contents with "Boundaries and Places" and "Transportation" as its children (as shown in figure 1-33), "Boundaries and Places" and "Transportation" are in the TOC as siblings of the Imagery layer.  That's the first problem.

Then when I try to make the Layer Sandwich, whenever I drag the Cities layer, the pointer icon shows disallowed, so I can't re-organize the layers.

Any idea what's wrong here?

Thanks,

Phil

Never mind -- I just found the issue.  I had "List By Source" selected instead of "List By Drawing Order".  Problem solved.  Moving on...

Hi Phil,

glad you got it sorted out. You'll face an issue when you get to Lesson 6 because there are ArcInfo-level geoprocessing tools and you mentioned that you're using an ArcEditor license. It would be best if you could install the trial ArcInfo license that comes with the book (good for 90 days), but if this isn't feasible, please go to the book's web page and click the left-hand link "Using ArcView or ArcEditor" under Book Resources. There's a document with instructions for doing the project with your tools.
