Remote Sensing: Which could be the best remote sensing satellite image to detect land cover and earth layers?

What if the soil wetness and temperature are required to be measured? Which bands can do the job?

What readings have you done? since there are obvious candidates eg

This NASA Satellite Can Map the Planet's Soil Moisture Content In Just Three Days | Innovation | Smi...

It question is kindof like asking "what is the best computer " 😉

I would recommend Landsat or Sentinel 2

Thank you guys for the useful input.

As I’m aware of, remote sensing images help recognizing the material on the land cover (surface layer) based on their signature on different bands.

  • How can remote sensing images recognize the material on underneath earth layers (other than the surface layer)?
  • Which remote sensing images bands can detect material temperature and wetness (moister content)?
