A simple method for filling Landsat 7 SLC off data using Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop - "Dust & Scratches" Filter

Photoshop users can utilize the "Dust & Scratches" filter. This generally works best on small areas of a Landsat scene, and is quick and easy to use.

  1. Open Photoshop.
  2. Open three band.tif files.
  3. Select the Channels tab and click the small round arrow.
  4. Select Merge Channels
  5. Select RGB Color in the "Merge Channels" box. Click OK
  6. In the "Merge RBG Channels" box, select the channels in RGB order (for instance: 7, 5 3). Click OK
  7. The channels are merged into an RGB image.
  8. Navigate to your particular area of interest on the image
  9. Select Filter -> Noise -> Dust & Scratches
  10. Within in the "Dust & Scratches" box, make sure the Preview box is checked.
  11. As the Radius and Threshold levels are moved up and down, the image changes
  12. Continue until the desired 'filled' image is created.
  13. Save the image.
