We have two types of Ultracam frame stereo images:

  • For Switzerland with spatial reference "CH1903+ LV95" (xy), and "LN 1902" (z)
  • For Ukraine with spatial reference "WGS 1984 UTM Zone 34N" (xy), and "EGM 2008 Geoid" (z)

For both types of images, we used the same workflow:

  1. Used sup-files (SocetSet Support files) to extract data for Frame Table and camera file for Camera Table
  2. Used this workflow to create mosaic dataset: Create a mosaic dataset from aerial imagery for stereo mapping—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop

We got the following results:

  • When sups of both Switzerland and Ukraine are loaded to Map, orientation is correct
  • When mosaic dataset of Switzerland is loaded to Map, orientation is correct
  • However, when mosaic dataset of Ukraine is loaded to Map, mosaic dataset is rotated by 90°

Does anyone have an idea why this happens? My guess is that it has something to do with the spatial reference.

We have provided sample scripts for processing aerial frame camera images, including images from UltraCam/UltraMap.  Could you look at http://esriurl.com/frameCamblog?  It provides an overview, and directs you to documentation and sample scripts at http://esriurl.com/FrameCameraSample

The script in the 'automated sample' reads the *.eo file from UltraMap to generate the mosaic dataset.  Let us know if this works for you.

Thank you Cody! I will try this out and let you know. As I am short of time at the moment, this will probably be in June.
