Hello. I am wanting to pan-sharpen WorldView-2 and -3 imagery. When I add these .ntf files into ArcGIS 10.8.1, I find the following curious behavior (that may make my job easier!).

In ArcMap, if I have both the PAN and MS files located in the same folder, when adding the data if I double click on the MS image as far as I can go level-wise, I am presented with a raster dataset entitled "pansharpen" (see attached Fig 1). This is strange because the data we ordered was not ordered already pan-sharpened. I am guessing that somehow the software is seeing the M1BS and P1BS files with the same  name in the same folder and doing some sort of on-the-fly pan-sharpening.?? I double-checked, and the image is indeed pan-sharpened!

However,

In ArcGIS Pro, if I do the same thing, upon adding the data there is no "pansharpen" option. (See attached Fig 2)

So my questions are:

1) is there some function in ArcMap that automatic pan-sharpens WV images upon opening them if the M1BS and P1BS are stored in the same folder?

2) If so, what method of pan-sharpening is being used on-the-fly?3) What method of pan-sharpening is being used on-the-fly?

3) Is there a way to activate this same auto-pansharpen function in ArcGIS Pro?

Thanks! So strange! I have never seen this before. Any insight will be greatly appreciated!

Yes it's there in Pro - read up on using the Raster Product if you're just adding individual scenes to the map

https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/data/imagery/raster-products-and-raster-types.htm

For effective management of multiple scenes you should use a mosaic dataset.  There are a lot of good resources at https://www.esriurl.com/imageryworkflows, specifically https://doc.arcgis.com/en/imagery/workflows/resources/using-mosaic-datasets-to-manage-imagery.htm and https://doc.arcgis.com/en/imagery/workflows/resources/managing-high-resolution-satellite-imagery.htm
