Hi,
I’m a Master’s student in geosciences working on dikes in southern Jordan as part of my thesis, which focuses on classifying them to better understand the region's tectonic history. Right now, I’m manually digitizing dikes from Google Earth and Esri base maps. They sometimes can be 1 m thick, so quality matters, but the process is time-consuming and prone to uncertainty, and unfortunately, my study area isn't fully covered by commercial high-resolution imagery, and I don't have the budget to purchase data.
I'm looking for a mentor or someone with experience in remote sensing workflows for structural geology or dike (rock) mapping, especially using free datasets and open-source tools. My goal is to learn more efficient, semi-automatic mapping methods that can help me minimize errors and speed up the process.
If you've worked on similar projects or know resources, tutorials, or people I should connect with, I'd be very grateful for your guidance.
Thank you in advance for any help or pointers!
