Show labels on features on ArcGIS Online

I have created a feature service and it shared: http://services.arcgis.com/u1pyDfVudZJk1pG6/arcgis/rest/services/Labels/FeatureServer

I have three layers and all three are defined to show labels.

Labels are nicely shown in ArcMap but not on ArcGIS.com Map.

Note! Attached is a picture of my layers and features in ArcMap.

UPDATED: I've done some more tests and this is my result:

• Feature service on ArcGIS online and labels are not shown on the map.
• Feature service on an internal ArcGIS server and labels are not shown on the map.
• Map service on ArcGIS online and labels are shown on the map.
• Map service on an internal ArcGIS server and labels are shown on the map.

This is how I create my labels:

1. Create feature classes in ArcMap and add them as layers.
2. In ArcMap, open layer property and configure labels.
3. Create service definition file(s).
4. Publish service definition files on ArcGIS online and on internal ArcGIS server and the result is as described above.

Can you think of any workaround where labels are shown on a feature service?

have you raised this with ESRI as a potential bug?

Can you specify the AGS versions and if you still need help with this issue?

Hi Miguel,

I didn't raise this as a bug. I don't think the possibility to show labels is implemented on feature services. It's only implemented on map services. My guess is that it's a known limitation and not really considered a bug. So, our customers will simply have to use map services to show labels in our GIS Map application. But I hope that it will be enabled on fetaure services too ....in any future release of ArcGIS.

I think I tested it on both ArcGIS 10.3 and 10.1.

Other option is having a map service just for the labels..

Working with Server 10.2.2. I have found the behavior to be the same - FeatureServer = no labels, MapServer = labels. Labels can be added to a FeatureServer type service using an ArcGIS Online map but they do not show up in the Collector app (version 17.0.1). Not sure with the logic is behind that...?
