We leverage offline replicas for almost all of our mobile workflows as our users are often in areas with little to no cell coverage.
In the event of a disaster, we want to ensure that when the standby environment is restored users can still sync any unsynced data edits they made before/during the disaster outage and also continue to collect data without downloading a new offline area.
Is this capability available with a whole VM restore? The new VM would have the same DNS name and configuration but a new IP (as it will be restored in a new location, away from the disaster). We can also run a webgisdr restore for those components that are covered by this tool.
Has anyone set up a recovery plan with requirements like these?
@JonathanQuinn, do you have any advice for us?
To be honest, we haven't tested that specific workflow, however it should work. Replica IDs should be stored in the relational Data Store, and the entire database is replicated using the DR tool, which would include the replica IDs and anything else that would be important to retain for offline workflows. I'm interested in trying this out, so I'll do some testing and get back to you.
