In this role you will manage location-based products. You will develop relationships with key internal partners throughout Weyerhaeuser’s various business units. You will collaborate with these partners, other Information Technology IT teams, and GIS professionals to deliver and manage innovative GIS software solutions, including our enterprise spatial data warehouse that serves a critical role in the organization. Leading the project to design and implement the next generation of the data warehouse will be a top priority on your roadmap.
Location: Safety is a core value at Weyerhaeuser. The work associated with this position will be performed remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. When employees can safely return to offices, the work will be performed in a hybrid capacity: partial telework, partial in our WY Headquarters in Seattle or one of our US Timberlands offices.
Responsibilities
- Manage our primary spatial data warehouse as a product, including populating the backlog, gathering requirements, planning releases, performing testing, providing support, and building a roadmap
- Work closely with Weyerhaeuser’s business units in the development of project charters, financial analysis including ROI for software initiatives, use cases, and functional requirements for medium to large-sized projects.
- Partner with the WY Corporate Development team on critical initiatives that involve modeling land values across WY ownership in the US.
- Provide stewardship of enterprise spatial datasets.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to advance Weyerhaeuser’s Connected Forest vision, including integrating GIS technology into the Forest Management, Wood Flow Planning, Transportation, and Financial systems.
- This position requires occasional travel up to 10%.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience is required.
- Minimum of four (4) to six (6) years of progressive, relevant GIS, IT, and/or project management experience.
- Experience managing software development projects, including knowledge of both agile/iterative and traditional/waterfall project management principles.
- Demonstrate excellent collaboration skills while working together with all members of the team; actively developing connections across multiple IT and GIS segments.
- Ability to prioritize and manage a diverse workload and work under time constraints with minimal supervision.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, proficient in communicating technical topics to non-technical audiences.
- Possess high attention to detail, ensuring that data quality and information is consistently maintained.
Highly Valued
- Experience as a product owner for data services and/or software solutions.
- Experience with the ESRI ArcGIS platform, including ArcGIS Server enterprise geodatabases, ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap and/or Pro), ArcGIS Enterprise/Online web tools.
- Experience with data model convergence, data conversion, data versioning, and replication.
- Ability to write SQL statements to query and analyze data.
- Experience automating GIS tasks using Python and SQL Server.
- Familiar with financial concepts including Net Present Value analysis.
- Familiar with forestry, real estate, and land title concepts and datasets.
- Working knowledge of ITIL/ITSM principles and practices.
