In this role, you will work with other members of the GIS Services and IT team to manage our enterprise ESRI/ArcGIS based spatial data assets and tools. You will collaborate with business customers throughout Weyerhaeuser Timberlands and Recreation Lease groups to deliver GIS data management, analytic, and cartographic services. You will seek out and contribute tactical ideas to help improve existing processes.

Location: Safety is a core value at Weyerhaeuser. The work associated with this position will be performed remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. When employees can safely return to offices, the work will be performed in a hybrid capacity: partial telework, partial in one of our WY US Timberlands offices with a preference toward Central or Eastern time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Provide stewardship of spatial datasets for the Recreation Lease, Timberlands, and Acquisitions & Divestiture business groups. Examples include leasing parcels, tax parcels, sensitive species, mills.
  • Identify new methods for using GIS to improve business processes and productivity.  Develop creative GIS analyses and solutions to address business problems.
  • Support Weyerhaeuser’s WebGIS environment in ArcGIS Enterprise through the creation and maintenance of web maps and web apps.
  • Perform a variety of GIS tasks related to automation and scheduled tasks using Python and SQL Server.
  • Provide cartographic services to all Weyerhaeuser departments through production of visually compelling maps for print, presentation, and web use.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to advance Weyerhaeuser’s Connected Forest vision, including integrating GIS technology into the Forest Management, Wood Flow Planning, Transportation, and Financial systems.
  • This position requires occasional travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Geography, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of progressive, relevant GIS and information technology experience.
  • Possess mid-level GIS technical knowledge and skills, including enterprise geodatabase design, spatial relationships, scripting, and cartography.
  • Proficient with ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap and/or Pro)
  • Hands-on experience with GIS data, GIS data processing, and scripting.
  • Ability to write SQL statements to query and analyze data.
  • Possess high attention to detail, ensuring that data quality and information is consistently maintained.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage a diverse workload and work under time constraints with minimal supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, proficient in communicating technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrate excellent collaboration skills while working together with others across GIS, business, and IT groups.

Highly Valued

  • Familiar with forestry, real estate, and land title concepts and datasets.
  • Significant experience with ESRI enterprise geodatabases, especially SQL Server, and experience with feature class versioning, data model convergence, SQL spatial data type, and SQL spatial methods.
  • Experience managing small to medium sized projects.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL/ITSM principles and practices.
  • Data visualization experience, including PowerBI.
