I am trying to find the steps in figuring out how to calulate the acres with within the South Park Township in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania that heavy industry cannot be built.
The buffer zone must be 0.25 miles away from parks. I need to know how many acres within South Park Township is excluded from heavy industry?
You'll want to use the Calculate Geometry function first, which will allow you to calculate the acreage of polygon features within a feature class. You can then right click on the field you just calculated values for go to the Statistics to find the sum of the values within the acreage field.
