Hello,

I'm hoping for help processing this.

I have the 2ft contours for a city area.  These were brought in as aprox 16 tiles.

I need to merge these shapes.  esp so that i can then clip them to city and neighborhood boundaries.

Can someone help me figure out how to do this?

note: It could also be of help if there is a way to simultaneously adjust symbols and definition queries for multiple shapefiles.

Thank you for your time,

Regards,

Derek

Hi Derek,

Take a look at the Merge tool.

Thanks, pretty sure I tried that initially and had a random script error throw me off.

Said error is reoccurring and support is telling me they need me to repair/re-install my Internet Explorer for some reason.  I'm chasing this down currently, but will update my progress and likely thank you again later.

At times I have had issues with merge ... so what I have done in the past is make a copy of your first file ( or at least backup everything) then I used the append tool instead

I forgot to add that personally, I'd use append as I can specify the sequence.

.... Same script error for Append...

... Sigh ... I'll start a new question ...

...Why does got GIS data need a specific web-browser??

Sounding like good advice and I thank you

Also my Merge function is completely offline for the time being

Seems to be something like this:

33792 - On some systems, running any Geoprocessing tool in ArcToolbox results in Microsoft Script Er...

... ok.. I hope that is clickable, that's the error I get, I can even find the area in the code of that file...

I'll need to ask a new question for that

I'll try Append -- Thank you,

it may also serve as a workaround

while I try to figure out why esri's software can fail

due to an issue that is either through Microsoft IE

or hasn't been properly resolved by an esri team.

Try it without background processing.
