Hi Does anyone know how to calculate sum of area within a polygon?
I have two shapefiels of addres cluster and cencus unit. want to do an areal interpolation, so I want to get sum of area of clusters witin census unit.
If I've understood the problem right you can try the next:
Select objects by location using standart tool (clusters inside census) then unit selected features into one object. The area of that object will be the one you're looking for. You can do the same inside model builder using corresponding tools if you have to solve the task permanently.
Areal Interpolation will be available in ArcGIS 10.1 with the GeoStatistical Analyst extension. If you have a beta or pre-release version you can give it a try.
