ArcGIS 10 Desktop : buffers are being cut off

Hello,

I recently encountered a problem with the Geoprocessing/buffer tool : I want to create 186km individual (disolve=NONE) buffers around a set of points and the resulting buffers located on the edge of my dataset are being cut off.
I thought it could be due to a wrong map extent but it doesn't seem to be the case.
Moreover, when adding new points outside of my dataset, their buffers are also being cut off. See screenshot (pink : full dataset/ blue: new points).

Any idea what could cause this ?
It is not the first time I use the buffer tool and I haven't had any problems with it in the past.

Thanks a lot,
Yvan

Can you post your point FC (should be small enough to post here, right?)?

I'm afraid I don't know how to do that... but also, the data is not mine, so I don't feel confident about giving it away.
However, I had the same issue with the smaller, custom-made dataset attached.
My geographic coordinate system is GCS_WGS_1984, projected with WGS 1984 World Mercator

Gotcha.

Well, using a projected coordinate system seems to be a work around...

You should contact ESRI support.

Yeah, I guess that will be the only way to know why this happens.

Well, thanks a lot for your help Chris and Duncan !

Follow-up :
I contacted ArcGIS Support but didn't get an answer yet.

Re-projecting in WGS 1984 World Mercator my dataset that's already in WGS 1984 World Mercator (Data Management/ Project), works fine too.
