With this discussion we are collecting topics for the next meetups.
This could be topics you are interested to discuss about as well as topics, where you are able to share know-how, information or lessons learned with other GeoDevs.
As soon as we have a handful of topics we will create a poll, so that you can decide what should come up next.
Please add your topic below!
As a developer I'm interested in:
- Web App Builder Custom Widgets (ES5, ES6, TypeScript). Some of my developments here
- ArcPy and the API for Python...
We can share knowledge and special tools for NGO's, for example, no?
Thank You for this input. You can certainly share knowledge and special tools for NGO's through this community since there are many developers in Switzerland who are working on these topics, but I would recommend that you share such content also in the community for Nonprofit and Global Organizations.
It might be best to share your code by linking to an external repo, e.g. on Github, or by sharing the code on ArcGIS Code Sharing and then linking to it.
Have a nice day!
It was great to meet some of you last week at the GEOSummit 2018. One of the important topics there has been the showcasing and value of AR/VR solutions, of visualization and visual data (including remote sensing). I think it would be great to dive into these topics again, this time with a technical view. I think many of us come up with use cases for AR instantly, and I'm curious to hear and see whether some of these ideas have been implemented, lessons learned, techniques used...
Maybe this could be a topic for the GeoDev Switzerland meetup that we plan to host at our facilities.
Thanks for your input! AR/VR definitely is a trending topic and we see upcoming real life-scenarios growing in numbers. As our business use case-specialist for this field, Christoph Haeberli, what do you think about AR/VR as one of the next GeoDev Meetup-topics?
You can check the ICRC Web App Builder Custom Widgets repository on Github here! We are releasing some of our Esri developments; creating the widgets with ES6 using Yeoman (compiling the code with Grunt to ES5).
maybe not a hot topic, but one of high importance for devs: how can I write unit tests if I work with Esri SDKs? We often run into problems writing unit codes and need to setup an entire db to test against or the ArcGIS classes can't be mocked at all.
Therefore it would be interesting to find out how others solve that problem or if there's some info on the topic from Esri.
