How to add a new code value to existing domain? 

ArcGIS Desktop/Enterpise 10.5.1

I tried to add a new code value to a existing domain for a existing field. So I republished to a map server. It hasn't update a new code value in existing domain on a existing field. Please advise! thank you!

From my own experience of this issue you have to use ArcToolbox to add the new entry to the domain - although ordinarily it would be fine to do it in the properties menu in arccatalog this doesn't seem to pull through to the service.  Only when I use the toolbox tool to add a new entry to an existing domain would it appear in the published service.

Are you able to tell me what method you used in order to see these changes reflected in your REST service?

I'm guessing I need to republish (overwrite?) or simply restart the service in order for these domain value changes to be accessible. Would like to avoid having to republish.
