We were fortunate to have the opportunity to present at this year’s Association of Consulting Foresters National Conference. There’s much that GIS can do to support consulting foresters with configurable tools. Below is a quick summary of what was presented including some highlighted questions discussed during the Q&A.

What type of imagery datasets are available?
You can browse all the imagery available in the Living Atlas by doing a quick search. The imagery is quickly available to input into your maps.

Is ArcMap going away?

ArcMap is going to be phased out by 2026, and our desktop development efforts are focused on ArcGIS Pro. We encourage you to migrate to ArcGIS Pro and leverage the advanced field mobility capabilities that are included with your ArcGIS Desktop licenses. Reach out to your Account Rep if you have questions about this.

What type of templates are available for consulting foresters to use in the field?

We have existing templates that have been built-out specifically for forestry use cases. These are free to use with your existing license and we encourage you to use these to quickly get up and running with field applications.
