Hi, I'm about to start a course with GIS at Uni and need a refresher course of some sort. Relatively short, free and using ArcMap as thats all i have access to. Is there anything that you think would be suitable?

Hi Aled, our most popular web course is Getting Started with GIS. It's 3 hours and covers all the basics. https://www.esri.com/training/catalog/57630434851d31e02a43ef28/getting-started-with-gis/

Hi Aled,

In addition to the resources already mentioned, here's a few more. These can be completed with an ArcMap Basic license and an ArcGIS organizational account (Publisher or Administrator). (If you don't have such an account, you can get one free by signing up for the Developer Program: Essentials plan at Pricing | ArcGIS for Developers .)

In addition, with your ArcGIS organizational account, you can access ~30 Free ArcMap training products available through Esri's My Academy.

Good luck!

There are some decent YouTube videos too, there are also some awful ones, but, most are helpful.
