I am having trouble downloading the data for the book exercises from the book resource page (esri.com/GTKAD-5) and I was wondering if there was any other place I could get these resources.

If anyone is still struggling with this (as I was), the dataset for "Getting to know ArcGIS for Desktop 10.8" uses the same data as "Getting to Know ArcGIS for Desktop 5th edition". If you follow Craig's link above, you'll have the right exercises for the 5th edition.

Just a heads up, if you get a Windows Defender warning that the download is from an unknown source, just click "more information" and you can continue the download.

Here's Craig's link: https://learngis.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=ecf19954b18a4a2d944ca31c9a169911

Greetings to all members, I am your colleague Sabah from Iraq, I am currently working on version 10.4.1 although it may lose its validity next year as far as I know, should I use 10.6.1 or the latest version of Arc? Thank you very much, GIS Desktop 10.8

Hi Sabah,

I would recommend migrating to ArcGIS Pro, it is faster and easier to use!

Hi,

Here a link to a zipfile of the exercise data.

  1. Download the data.
  2. Create a folder on your C drive named EsriPress.
  3. Unzip the data and place it inside the folder.
