Geoportal 1.0 - getting metadata and WMS from SDE

Our organisation is new to Geoportal and we're trying to work out how we can get the metadata in SDE populated and updated reguarly in Geoportal. We also have a couple of test WMS services that we need to link to the appropriate metadata. How do we go about this?

I tried through metadata editing in the ISO 19139 standard but the linkage (http link) disappears when I save the metadata edit. I've attached a screenshot.

Question:  Are you using ArcGIS Server as your mapping server? if so, have you enable the WMS capability for the service in question?

in the Arccatalog-Metadataeditor all http links have to be given in lower characters. Upercase like .../GIS/test/AT/... does not work - this is my experience. For SDE and Metadata try to make an WAF (Web Accesible Folder) on server side. Enabel the folder for Browsing. In Geoportal use the option Register resource on the network with option WAF. All xml files (copied from sde with batch processing once a day) in the folder will synchronized well.
